SQLgeek:

I was the OP (Original Poster) of a thread to discuss
pearl grips. You can search for it and read it. We all
got a few grins and I got ribbed for it.

The main thing Wild Bill and others pointed out was that
General George S. Patton had ivory grips, not pearl.

Patton said "My grips are ivory. Only a New Orleans pimp
would have pearl grips."

The wife and I also just moved here from Kalifornia, about 9 months ago, we love it.
Just received my plastic last month and now proudly carry my Glock22/27 in a supertuck.
We bought a home in the Hill Country and drove out here 2 days after I retired-wish we had done this years ago!
Great forum, been reading it all morning, I'm looking forward to soaking up all the good info here.

Welcome slinco to Texas and the forum from a former Kalifornian. We've been here since 2004. Like you, I don't know why we didn't move here sooner!!! :txflag:

Man you sure did'nt waste any time! I thought I had to be a resident for 6 months before I could apply? or is that just to purchase a gun here?

The six month rule was changed to also include anyone who intended to become a Texas resident, proof of which was obtaining a Texas DL, purchasing a home, signing a lease and several others. I came down here to look for a house, found one, signed a contract and changed my DL over to Texas. I rented the house I was buying while waiting to close so I could get started on making needed repairs to horse fenceing and took my CHL course while I was I was here for that. CHL came in the mail two days after the moving truck showed up!

Im also from Ca. I thought the laws there were ok till I moved here only to find out how bad it really was there. I guess it kinda like stockholms syndrom when you live there for so long.

Yep, moving here really opens your eyes to how silly and restrictive things are in California. People look at you funny just for having a knife clip sticking out of your pocket there!
