I have been watching this thread for a while and this is my first post.

I have been trying to figure out where this location is exactly but I can't find it in person or on a map. Any directional advice would be great.

North on 75 pass 380. Take Wilmeth exit head east on Wilmeth. At 1st stop sign with Blockbuster Corp on NE corner, take left. Road narrows and quarry is to right.

Can't help with owner/permission.

Google Earth:

LAT 33.235224, LON -96.628000. Pretty good image, The big white BLDG to south is Blockbuster, the building to left off 75 is Landmark Equipment. It is an old image, Blockbuster is even bigger now.

This sounds like a great place to shoot. How does one go about getting permission to shoot there?

I stopped out there for a little fun shoot.......great place to shoot. I got curious and called the land company handling the land. The property is privately owned and the company is selling for them. If you've got a mere $150,000 you can buy the acre the place sits on. Apparently from our conversation, they haven't been out to the property in quite a while. It's just land available for sale. I'd hate to be the person out there shooting when they bring a prospective buyer out there, but it appears as if shooting has been going on there for a while. Not sure how long, but it doesn't appear to be THAT long.....maybe a few years tops. Not alot of casings laying about that I saw. Then again, I wasn't really looking too hard. Nice place to dig for fossils though. Plenty of limestone.

If I had to take a wild guess, I would think the owner would probably answer "No" to allowing his land to be used as a range. Not sure about what would happen if someone had a ND and sued the land owner for some unknown reason........I'm going to stick to the indoor range and IDPA but wish that place weren't so questionable, or I'd be out there alot.

They will not give written permission, but will give verbal. That place has been a hot spot for shooting for way more than just a couple of years just ask the property company. Not only do they know about it they don't care one bit even the property manager said that he has gone out there and hunted and shot before though not recently at all. In addition to that I was talking to one of my neighbors "big hunting guy" and he told me that he has been going there since the 70"s when he was a kid and his dad before him was shooting out there. I am currently trying to buy my own land so I can really have my own place to shoot and question nothing but I'm having a hard time finding more than just an acre or 2 that is readily accessabile and not to far away, looking in chamberlain right now. If I thought I was going to get arrested and lose my CHL I probably wouldn't do it. Yesterday 5 guys all had really nice full auto stuff supressors and all and they had been shooting there collectively since 89 once a month reguraly.

Google satellite view.

(Google frequently refuses to show satellite views; if you get a "not available at this resolution" message, try again later.)

Glad my wild guess was wrong. Looks like there's a new place to shoot close to home!!! I wonder how far the land goes back?? I wouldn't mind doing some critter hunting out there. I would imagine that pond makes a great place to tag a few critters at dusk. For that place being there for so long, it sure isn't that bad off (trash wise) Good to see people police their trash.

I've got over 40 types of 9mm ammo I've been looking to test out somehow. That might be the place to do it.

Not sure about Sun. I might be recovering from a wedding party. (sister's getting married)

Is everyone calling before going out? Maybe we could ask if it would be OK for the area Texas CHL forum members to shoot there all the time?

Seems like that would be a good idea, let them know that people on here are safe gun owners and such.

If anyone wants to get the number, I'll call and ask. Otherwise, if anyone gets there and decides to call and ask, could you let us all know? Might be a great way to start a weekly meet and greet session. Not to mention get a little range time in as well.
