He seemed in a pretty good mood for having been shot FOUR times, twice in the gut. Must have some pretty good painkillers in that hospital!
Too bad his aim wasn't better -- but perhaps excusable due to all that extra weight he had to deal with. (Lead weight, that is.)

Kudos to that man for having the same reasons we all do here for getting a CHL. Without a doubt, it saved his life.

this video is a perfect case for why you carry with one in chamber!! you DO NOT have time to rack the slide/chamber a round....this man was hit in the hand and wouldnt have been able to chamber a round...do the right thing folks, if your going to carry, carry correctly.

A commenter posted, "Black on black crime!" Would "Black on Pacific Islander crime" been more palatable?? How 'bout "criminal on victim crime"?

Thanks for posting such a good media report. We should write that station to thank them for actually reporting not only a gun owner, but a concealed weapon carrier in a positive way.

Another CHL good write-up
Two women abducted, sexually assaulted in N. Houston

Two women were abducted from a north Houston Jack-In-The-Box early this morning and sexually assaulted at gunpoint for hours before escaping from the suspected carjacker, who was injured fleeing authorities.
The women, both in their 20s, were in a Mustang convertible at the fast food restaurant at Mesa and Tidwell roads about 2:30 a.m. when they were abducted by a man with a gun, said Christina Garza, spokeswoman with the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
The suspect forced the women to drive across the city and sexually assaulted them, Garza said. After being held captive for hours, one of the women tricked the suspect into going to an apartment complex in the 10300 block of Beltway 8, where her brother lives, under the guise of getting money.
Once she was outside of the car, the woman used a cell phone to call her brother. The brother, who has a concealed weapon permit, came out of his apartment and confronted the suspect with a gun, firing at him, Garza said.
In the meantime, the other woman managed to get out of the Mustang and escape, Garza said.
The suspect fled the apartment complex in the women's vehicle, but crashed near Wilson Road and Beltway 8 and was taken to Ben Taub Hospital. Garza said she did not have additional information on his condition.

Re: Finally, a CHLer is portrayed as the victim
You are absolutely correct, this man did not have time to rack the chamber. It is also interesting to me that he said that the first shot that hit his hand "spun him around", but didn't even realize that he had been shot several more times. Most important, he stayed in the fight and prevailed.vinnier6 wrote:this video is a perfect case for why you carry with one in chamber!! you DO NOT have time to rack the slide/chamber a round....this man was hit in the hand and wouldnt have been able to chamber a round...do the right thing folks, if your going to carry, carry correctly.

OTOH, if the 20 somethings in their Mustang convertible hadn't been out at 2:30 in the morning doing whatever they were doing to attract attention - getting the attention - and then taking the BG (?) to Bro's apartment in the wee hours of the morn, none of this would have happened.joe817 wrote:Kudos to that man for having the same reasons we all do here for getting a CHL. The story smells er, uh...{fishy} .

Although I don't think anything good happens after 12 midnight..... 2 girls sitting in line in a JackOldgringo wrote:OTOH, if the 20 somethings in their Mustang convertible hadn't been out at 2:30 in the morning doing whatever they were doing to attract attention - getting the attention - and then taking the BG (?) to Bro's apartment in the wee hours of the morn, none of this would have happened.joe817 wrote:Kudos to that man for having the same reasons we all do here for getting a CHL. In the Box, at whatever time of day or night, didn't deserve the unwanted attention of a carjacking
rapist. Both were sexually assaulted and obviously desparate to seek help (CHL brother) where
ever they thought they could get it. None of this would have happened if they had just stayed home
and watched TV? Get a grip. They are 20 something girls......probably been dancing or clubbing with
other friends. Stopped by the Jack to grab a bite to eat. When I read the story, my immediate thought
was; too bad her brother wasn't a better shot, and how sorry I was that this happened to 2 young gals.

I don't have to get a grip, etc., etc. and some more etc. It wasn't I who was out at 2:30 in the morning having uh...fun in my Mustang convertible.gemini wrote:
