Been lurking in forums a while and thought I would post my "setback" with my CHL.
You see, I sent in my application packet on June 17th, delivery receipt confirmation on the 19th. Everything in the packet was meticulous, nice, neat, clean, and absolutely perfect (so I thought). I checked everything 10 times over, I even packed and unpacked the application packet several times to make sure that everything was there. Checked the site today and I finally have status! :woohoo
Here's the catch... My instructor made a mistake that I am in turn paying for. When I filled out my yellow application form I made a mistake with some employment dates. Now, being that I wanted everything to be nice and neat, I asked my instructor if I could get another application form. Long story short, I drove 45 minutes to pick up the form from him. Once I got there he was waiting with the "proper" form in hand only one catch, it was not YELLOW. I asked him about it being an issue, and he assured me that it wasn't a problem and he's had people send them in like this before.
Looking at my status online it showed that the application was missing. I called to explain the misunderstanding and was told that I have to fill out a new application and that DPS doesn't recognize this form unless it's on yellow paper! :banghead: :???: :banghead:  I even politely explained what my instructor had told me and she just said that the new form was on it's way and I should fill it out again and send it back as soon as I can.
Moral of the story: "If somethin' stinks...watch where you step". I should have gone with my instinct and told him I only wanted the yellow application, but I took his word on it and here I am stuck in the waiting room for another couple of weeks. :grumble
But at least I have Status!!:

NOS,
That shouldn't be much of a setback, especially since they are probably working on your background check. Hopefully you'll have the correct yellow form back to them before the BGC is completed...or around the same date.
Hang in there. :coolgleamA:

My background check has been under review for over two weeks now. Is that a normal amount of time? I've lived in the same city for the past six years and have not disqualifying events that I'm aware of.

Everything else has checkmarks by it.

05/14/2010 - CHL class taken
06/01/2010 - Online application sent to DPS.
06/07/2010 - Additional materials mailed to DPS (photo holder, fingerprint affidavit, etc.)
06/22/2010 - Additional materials received (website updated), background check: under review.

Depends who you ask.
Some people do not even have status for 3 weeks and then go "boom, boom, boom" in a week or 2, to mailed
Others have status early and show under review for a long time.

Basically figure 35 - 45 days from DPS receipt to your receipt of the license (assuming no issues).
I know its a pain, but until its past 60 days, you will only get the standard answer from DPS if you ask them, so just be patient.
Dont look for 2 days, and things will change --- this is a challenge!:

It's good to know there are others in the same waiting boat as I am. It's been a couple of weeks for mine as well. Waiting isn't easy....at all. I'm hoping that they are just forgetting to update the website and I should expect to have my plastic in the mail any day now :

Canvasbck,
Congrats on the Man Pend status :clapping: . I can tell you mine was set on manufacturing pending for only 3 days before it rolled over to MAILED. I'm expecting it in the mail any day now. I'm looking forward to my Wally Walk once the SuperTuck comes in.... which I didn't order until last week. :cryin

It feels good to know that your application at least made it out of the mailroom and onto someone's desk.
