Newest 1911 - super longslide
Picked up in trade for a song (well a $350 song). I know the AMT is not well respected but they are the only 7" longslide maker I know of. Now have 3,4,5,6 and 7"! Gun actually shoots well, no issues so far. Feels weird on cycling as the slide moves rather slowly, almost like the Desert Eagle due to the mass. Engraving was a plus, not an engraving fan but this is tasteful. Frame is cast junk and already have ordered a Caspian RR frame for it. I hate the finger hooks on 1911s and since frame was no good I ground it off to see if it would look better and found a nice huge void (air bubble) in the trigger guard. I really just bought for the upper receiver which is in excellent condition, plus the internals were all Springfield so just need a frame, beavertail and Cdr hammer.

Wow man, that's pretty cool.
I'm considering saving my pennies and getting a 6" Longslide gun from STI next summer.

I guess I'm going in the opposite direction (brand wise). I'm looking for a Glock 35 for a long barreled pistol right now. I want to get a custom barrel with a compensator and porting on it. Then replace the sights with a Burris Fast fire. Of course ad all the extended stuff etc. Should be pretty neat if the wife actually lets me guy it.

No way bro. She watches our account like a hawk. I bought a box of .380 yesterday at Walmart while I picked up some shorts and a set of earphones and she emailed me by 9am today wanting to know what else I bought besides the shorts and earphones.

Good looking slide. I like the engraving. I'd say PLEASE call me when you get tired of it but seeing you have 3,4,5,6 and 7" I can tell that won't happen. Guess I am going to look on Gunbroker and see if any long slides are sitting there.

Good luck. I have been trying for 2 years to get the 7". Always just missed the deal or it was stupid, like $1k or something. 6" are on GB, usually Springers. bare slides are rare as hens teeth. I would like a 6" slide with about 1/4" of barrel sticking out with a nice crown. Probably have to cut down a 7" barrel.

AMT was hit or miss depending on production runs from what I hear. In general, cast frames aren't necessarily bad (Caspian is cast BTW) but, ouch...that is some void. I say, get someone to TIG that void and save that frame for a "beater" build.

Re: Newest 1911 - super longslide
If I can get a .22lr upper cheap I will make a .22 out of it. Will make a good play with frame. Not worth wasting tig welding money on IMO. I have a Safari Arms 6" being done. Mechanical work is complete, had to have the stupid finger hooks (ledges) milled off, EB BT fitted and slide tightened. Getting all the controls color-cased (bone and charcoal style), slide and frame done in black manganese (I think, my smith likes to surprise me). The color case will be new (to me anyway) as i have never seen just the controls done that way. Will post pics when I get it back.
Re: Newest 1911 - super longslide Upgraded!
AMT frame was junk so fitted a Para HiCap, Ed Brown beavertail and hammer, Rear sight was replaced with one from a Blackhawk revolver. Frame finished in black polymer finish. End of the Recoil plug and the bushing was polished to a mirror finish. Extended controls and 3# trigger completed it out.
