357 Sig

I just ordered myslef a new handgun chambered in 357 Sig. Looking for reasonable priced target ammo seems to be a challenge so I figured I would ask forums members where they purchase theirs and what they are paying. Wally World locally does not seem to carry it so I would like to find a few boxes of various target ammo and see what works the best before I buy a large quantity of it. Any personal experiences will be very much appreciated.

I know I've seen it at WalMarts before, but I can't recall the price.

Hope you don't intend to reload either -- not saying you can't reload .357SIG, but the pressures on the brass neck really limit its ability to be reused. I'd stick with .40S&W (same ammo capacity, less recoil, more bullet mass).

I carry a Sig P226, .357 Sig and rounds are not cheap at all. My local Walmart down here sells them for $28 a box. Not only is it expensive, but the rounds are hard as hell to find here in San Antonio. I'm going to get the .40 cal barrel conversion for my P226 here soon. I've just wasted too much money on ammo to break in my baby, and to become a proficient shooter with it.

What pistol did you end up getting there? Show us pics and where you purchased it from!

It should arrive tomorrow and I will post pic's after it get's it's first cleaning. It is a Sig P239, since we are a dealer I purchased it from myself, great price and the service could not be beat, at some point I will order a 40 cal barrel for it .....

That's great, man. I'm sure you got a good deal on it. I thought the P239's were a bit top-heavy, but after putting a magazine in it, it felt comfortable as any Sig would feel. I do want one later to have in my everyday carry routine, but as of right now I have my sights on a Springfield micro-compact.

I saw your website and looked at that beautiful Sig you had there. I love that grip color on it, too. Never thought I would, but I do.

This your first Sig? Or what else do you have there?

I Finally had time to track down some ammo, Cabellas had 3 boxes of Winchester so I scouped it up, Greybeard loaned me a box and found an old post in the classifieds here and it was still available so I ended up with about 400 rounds. I put 50 through it and it performed as expected of a Sig, great shooter and I really like the DAK trigger. Had one Hornady round that just would not go bang, the plus on the DAK trigger is I could keep hitting it, finally after the 6th it went off. Will go burn more ammo this weekend and should have the trigger mastered. It carrys very well at 4:00 in a TT Gunleather IWB holster that I had made for my Sig P250. The 357 Sig is loud and has a bit of snap although it is very manageable..........This is a keeper.....

If I ever buy another Sig, I think it will be a P239 in .357 Sig, though probably the DA/SA version.

I have a P239 in 9mm and love it.

I bought mine back when they first came out. I swear I remember them offering a kit version that included the slides, barrels, & mags for all 3 calibers. I wish I had caved in and bought that.

Still, my P239 is my EDC until I finish breaking in & testing my new Kimber. I doubt I'll ever sell it though. It just works.

I have a Glock 33 .357 sig, it used to be my carry gun from 95 til ?. I love shooting it.I use Winchester Ranger 125 gr usually.Easy to find here in Abilene but expensive.
I used my .357 sig on my CHL requal and on the 7 yard target my target would go horizontal after each shot from the muzzle blast.The instructor got on to me for not getting my 2 sec shots off and
I said how am i supposed to do that when my dang target is horizontal...? He watched and just walked off shakeing his head.Real exciting shooting at night too.

I'm not quite sure where you are coming from on the case reuse issue. I've reloaded .357SIG cases numerous times with only a handful of case problems. I've had about the same percentage of case rejects with .357SIG that I experience with 9mm, .380, or 10mm. If the rounds are for target practice, just don't load make them full-power loads.

Why mess with .357 sig when 10mm is out there, or 9x25 dillon.

Plus, when you say you shoot .357 sig people go "oooooohhhhhhhhh, those are powerful" and leave you alone.

When you say you shoot 10mm, people go "oh, so it's like a bigger 9mm" and then they crowd you at the range... until you empty a mag, then they leave
