I think this is my first post on this forum.

I just called and reserved a spot in a CHL class for next weekend.

I'm excited and can't wait to get this journey started.
[Insert pithy witicism here]

Proudly carrying since 09/10.

Welcome to the forum SlickTX. :tiphat:

Enjoy your class and then come back and read, read, read the posts here. By the time your license arrives you should be ready for your first outing with your CCW.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the first steps.
You might also want to look into some Professional Training at a local range. Remember even the best athelete has a coach. Once you are comfortable with shooting and moving "No one stands still in a gunfight" try a little IDPA or such. Being "on the clock" and having a bunch of people watching you kicks the stress up a notch and is a real hoot!

Karl Decker with Shiloh Tactical shooters introduced me to IDPA and it is a real great time. Way more fun than just target shooting.

Yeah, it was actually fun for me. Pay attention in class, and do the paperwork absolutely correct. And welcome aboard to the site and exercising your 2nd.

Welcome to the forum.

I will give you some advice here but it's just mt .02.

1) While you are waiting for the plastic to come in, wear your carry weapon concealed around the house. This will help to get you used to carrying concealed.

2) Do not check the DPS website for your status. It will drive you insane. Some people are checking 2-3 times a day. Some of them from just a couple of days after it was mailed.

3) Make yourself aware of your surroundings while out. Again, this is to get you used to this.

4) Be safe and practice.
