I saw my husband the other day and started cracking up laughing, telling him how cliche he was: a CHL holder wearing a loud Hawaiian shirt with some tactical cargo pants and a heavy-duty gun belt. Then this thread popped up and I laughed a lot more.

Interestingly enough, he wasn't carrying at the time so if anyone saw him and assumed by his dress that he was, they would have been wrong.

I get my "Mexican Wedding" shirts at Fiesta Supermarket for about $15. I haven't looked for anything bigger than a Large but I found a place that has them up to 6XL.http://guayaberashirt.com/shop/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Well, I used to wear suits and have hair on top of my head, and people mistook me for Jeremy Irons.

I had seen that before, but I didn't need them since I was still buying from Blair.

I registered and signed up for their newsletter. Prices for the poly/cotton are very fair.

Appreciate it,

Rhetorical question then. What does a Hawaiian shirt "scream" in Hawaii?
TOURIST!!!!

It's true. But 'Aloha' shirts are different and are worn by locals all the time.

Perhaps this is best demonstrated graphically:

No self respecting kamaaina would be caught dead in one of these.

Can be worn pretty much anywhere by anyone at anytime except perhaps lawyers in court.

I have a couple of "Hawaiian shirts" (by the way they're called palaka shirts in Hawaii), but rarely wear them.

Over the last couple of years I have gotten involved in a new hobby, machine embroidery, as such I spend a lot of time looking for solid color shirts that I can decorate myself.

Tractor supply had a small stock of western style, pearl snap, short sleeve, but none big enough to use as concealment.

Yeah, but I only had a Garand for shark watch on my tin can, no Ma Deuce.

And that house wasn't all that well fortified, including the "Zebra" doors.

I did my "sharkshooter" during lifeboat duty with an M14 and 100 rounds. Those were the days. Indian Ocean, about 30 million degrees farenheit, sitting in the sun waiting to drop the motor whaleboat in case some goober dumped his bird while dropping supplies on the helo deck.....Ah, the good old days..... :patriot:

btw, my first ship was a tin can. The USS Hoel, DDG-13, Adams class. Commissioned in the late '60's I believe. I was on her in the early '80's. Running, gunning little critter, she was.....Great movie of her underway on Youtube.....

I lost my source for affordable guayabera shirts. I was buying from http://www.blair.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; , but they stopped carrying anything larger than 3XL.

I bought a couple from http://www.haband.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; , but the only ones they have in 5XL are with a zipper.

Have a source you'd care to share?
Usually used clothes off ebay.

Luckily, my last 2 jobs have provided me with jeans as part of my uniform and I usually just wore those and didn't have a need to purchase my own.
