Re: Man shot while stealing rims- Houston
Need more info before making any kind of decision on whether it was a good shoot or not.
Right away, the fact that the shell casings were said to be in the road, and not, say in the homeowner's driveway, adds a little suspicion...
Did he get the rims, and try to flee with them? Or did he give up and run as soon as the homeowner came out, and the homeowner ran out into the street, shooting at his driving away car?
Two totally different scenarios, with 2 completely different legal repercussions.

I agree there's not enough information to do a valid analysis.dicion wrote:Need more info before making any kind of decision on whether it was a good shoot or not.

Shell casings in the street do not preclude a good shoot. The victim's vehicle may have been parked in the street as well. There's also no indication of how the confrontation unfolded, whether or not the thief threatened the owner, or the location and trajectory of wounds on the deceased. The article doesn't include this important information.

Re: Man shot while stealing rims- Houston
My Colt can throw cases pretty far. Depending on the geometry of the scene, I could be standing well inside the property line and still get cases to the street.
The sooner I get behind, the more time I have to catch up.

From the locked duplicate.
Like Terrible Ted, I like dead offenders more than repeat offenders.

This will only hurt a little. What comes next, more so.

I need more facts.
It is also unclear who called the authorities and reported the shots fired. If a neighbor called in the shooting, and the homeowner or the cousin did not try to contact authorities, it would imply some type of guilt IMHO. Either way there are still too many holes to get a clear view of what really happened.

I live in an area where home invasions are occuring at a rate of about 3 or 4 a month!!! Every single one of the perps who have been caught have simple burglaries on their records to start off their illustrious careers. I say the homeowner should be commended for his community service!Teamless wrote:Another one bites the dust, but to kill a man for stealing rims?

Thieves, like sex offenders, often escalate their offenses over time. The revolving door justice system is an insult to the victims and their families.Bird of Prey wrote:I live in an area where home invasions are occuring at a rate of about 3 or 4 a month!!! Re: Man shot while stealing rims- Houston
IMO, a thief does not just steal my property; he steals a part of my life. More to the point, I have a finite amount of time on this earth and when a thief takes my property, he has taken the time that I worked to be able to pay for the property. He steals the time I took to go and get the property , the time I have to work to replace the property, the time from work or whatever I could be doing while I replace the property and the time I have to spend restoring my property to the way it was prior to the theft.
All times of my life that I can't replace.
It’s a shame a hand of the thief can’t get caught in the revolving door of justice and be amputated as the Justice system cuts him loose. It would be really hard to steal rims with one hand.
Oh, and IMO, the thief that was shot owes the owner the cost of the bullet.

I can't think of anything more useless to spend money on than wheel rims, not to mention the bad kind of attention that they attract.
