It's amazing how comfortable he is on the last leg of his climb to attach his safety hook on the run that could easily slip off. Major props to the folks who climb these to make a living.

There is not enough money in the whole world that would make me do that climb. :eek6

As a one time lineman, (temporary duty assignment of eighteen months) I probably viewed the video from different perspective.

While I too would've been somewhat fearful, the thing I thought most about was how tough such a climb would be on your tootsies.

I know after climbing just a fifty-five foot pole, my feet would go partially numb, until I got to safety off...

I'm so glad I'm a desk jock, with flex-hours and every other Friday off.

In my younger days I was a paratrooper and later worked high on towers and vessels of petrochemical plants and power plants. Watching that made me dizzy. Ain't no way Jose.

Spent 20 years climbing poles for the phone company, and as a ham I have tower climbed for many of my fellow hams who couldn't or wouldn't, never had a problem aloft except when a guy I was climbing dropped a battery pack and hit another ham 150 feet below on the hand. I climbed down and refused to be up there with him, he was that unsafe.

I have had a helicopter fly around a tower I was on to have a look at what I was doing, and I was looking down at him when he arrived.

An acquaintence of mine was the site engineer for the TV tower on top of the World Trade Center and he invited some of us to come visit and go up the tower "a way" to ham equipment that was up there (thus legitimizing the visit.) I was all set to do it during one of my frequent visits to NYC in those days, and mentioned the prospect to my wife, who told me that if I didn't fall and kill myself, she would.

My friend was one of those lost on 09/11/01.

I once shinnied up a mast on top of a tower to fix part of an antenna, just to avoid having to disassemble the mast mounting to get the antenna down, having just put it up there.

I have a picture that I took many years ago, of my toes hanging over the edge of a 300 foot cliff. I was standing on the edge looking down through the viewfinder.

I have always wanted to try skydiving, but at least when you are climbing, you are in contact with some sort of structure attached to the ground, hopefully.

:iagree: I design audio and video systems for a living, and sometimes get up in between 60-120' to install some equipment (not as much as I used to before I started designing, thankfully). In my early days I remember my feet cramping badly while making my climb or boom lift drop of, because my feet were trying to grip for traction in my shoes. I got over that in a year or so.
Every job was different, and some were much worse than others. I vividly remember hanging on a badly rusted 1 inch bar about 65 feet over an empty Olympic sized swimming pool, while my crew hoisted up cabinets that weighed over 250 lbs. each. I had to tie off in multiple places so I had to free climb in some areas to get to a place where I could tie off (company I worked for at the time wasn't very safety conscious. Please note, I was much younger at the time, and I'm no longer affiliate with this company :nono: ). While I was securing the cab's in place most times I had to tether to the same mounts that the cabinets were attached to. I had visions of meeting my maker after the fall into the deep end, as well as a speaker following me down to seal the deal.
After watching that, I started gripping my feet again. That video is crazy! That had better be a 7 figure a year job, if you want me to give it a shot. I'll never complain about a 60+ foot climb again

if you fell, I would guess (educated guess) that you would do more than hurt yourself LOL
What do you mean? From past experience, I've never had a fall that resulted in more that hurting myself, so why should that be any different?
