I'm interested in seeing how it goes. DPS responded to my complaint saying they were adding the collection of CHL information to the list of complaints against the security company and it, "...WILL be investigated." (caps were theirs). Congressmen replied with pat pro RKBA form letters, no response from city manager or DPD chief Kunkle but I did advise them with specific excerpts from the codes the multiple violations and liability. So I am definitely interested in how the experience goes and whether it is consistent across gates and times.

My wife wants to go with my eldest and her kids next Tuesday while I am working. The condition is that she go armed. She him hawed about the hassle and I said she could just wait until next Tuesday when I can go but them's the rules.

When my girls were growing up, I never allowed them to go to the Fair at night. They were quite irritated about it, but I stood my ground. In recent years it's been much safer because of a strong DPD presence, but the surrounding neighborhoods are far from safe. You're much more likely to encounter trouble where you park than you are inside the Fair. Personally I have zero interest in going. Fairs are not my thing.

I love the State Fair, and I'm looking forward to going at least once this year. So far doesn't sound like anyone has had a horrible experience. My strategy was just going to be to discreetly hand the security person involved my CHL if they were going to wand me, if not I'm just gonna walk right in. In some ways I think its a great application of don't ask don't tell :txflag:

Me neither. I've lived here for 4.5 years now, and this will be the first time I'm going - and that's only because The Annoyed Woman will be The Really Irritated Woman if we don't. My prayer is that this will scratch her itch, and we can agree to find something else to do with the time next year.

Ah, give it up man. When she (even you) sees the crafts building, watches a couple of shows your done. It'll be routine. I recommend going on Tuesdays with Dr. Pepper cans as the tickets are three dollars. Or Thursday, they let old people in free then :biggrinjester:

I am headed to the Fair tomorrow (monday 27 Aug) at around 11 AM. Will be taking the DART down (as i live near the Garland@Duckcreek station. Free Dart pass and Free Tickets to the fair. Anyway, I intend to give as little information as possible and will report the happenings.

PS. I'll be the cheep guy in shorts, a T, with a Blackhawk full day pack on carrying energy bars, 9 liters of water, and my standard regiment of "just in case" supplies.

Have a great day at work folks, I'm out for the fair w/ the misses.

I went in the "front" gate @ the Dart rail dropoff. There were wanders, and a sign saying "no weapons of any kind"..."valid CHL report to the security supervisor"... Anyway, so we go up to the line, the wander stops her wand on my weapon, and says "whats this sir" i asked "do you really want to know?" she said "Valid CHL?" to which i respond "yes" and she waves me through. The wife is carrying the 5" Taurus 9mm full sized in a camel back...the girl looks in the camel back and never even sees it, didnt wand the bag.
