Yes. If you already have a Texas CHL, and you make a copy to include with your Utah application, then you will get your Utah license much sooner. If you don't have your Texas CHL, you can still get a Utah license. It will just take longer.

OK, the GlockenHammer talked me into it. So, here's the scoop:

Sunday, Nov 19, 1:00 at the famous barbeque joint in Texas City. This shouldn't take more than 2 hours. It will be a quick review of what you already know, and the specifics you need to know about Utah. And Jbird's gonna post directions for those of us who don't know where the place is. Right, Jbird?

$50 for the class, payable on class day, includes application, photos and notary, but not fingerprints. I will provide the fingerprint cards for you to take to your local PD. These are the blue FBI cards. They don't say anything about Utah anywhere, so what you tell your fingerprinter is between you and your conscience.

I need a general idea of how many people we are talking about here, so give me a response if you are planning on coming.

Any questions?

Texas City location. I will have my wife post better directions if needed. Anything past mapquest from me and you might end up somewhere that requires you to speak Spanish!

Let me know if I can help in any other way. Thanks.

I will be there.

I am driving a van with seating for 6 additional passengers. If anyone needs a ride from The Woodlands/Spring area, I'll be glad for the company.

Will there be other classes in other places? I will not be able to make it to Texas City as we are camping in Arlington that weekend.

My CHL should be here this week since the DPS website message changed today to "Certificate issued". So that means I shouldn't have to wait a long time for the Utah license to come after taking the class.

Oops, just saw your message in another forum about classes on Saturday in Roanoke. I'll sign up for one of those.

Thanks,

Sure, if you really trust me...

Can't believe its only about 6 people...From the look of the commentary so far on this thread, I figured we'd have to rent out the Astrodome for this thing...

Ms. Watson...Its so easy to get too its not even funny...The split off the Gulf Freeway is marked real well...Just take the big high speed turnoff ramp off and over the freeway to the east and run a few blocks on that street till you see the joint...

See y'all there...

Take exit 16 off 45 South, that will be 1764 and will become Palmer, stay on it until you get there, I would guess about 5 to 7 miles, I might have signed up but I have student's set up for private lessons. I will try to stop by and say hello.

Well, I like to expect the least, and plan for the most. If I expect 6 and we have 60, then I am pleasantly surprised. We have plenty of applications and plenty of film for photos, so it will all be good.

Oh, and I hear they have plenty of good barbeque too!

See ya there!

Thanks, ElGato! Hope you can stop by, but you might be surprised that we won't be there too long. Utah class requirements are not at all like Texas CHL requirements. Since it appears everyone in this class already has a Texas CHL, there won't be a lot of legal stuff to cover. I figure we will cover all the Utah required topics and still only be there about 2 hours.
