which Snap Caps for newbie guy

I've been looking to get some snap caps, and have found only 2 choices and they are markedly different.

One is by Battenfeld Tipton that uses a spring thing inside and the other is by A-Zoom and seems to be solid aluminum.

I have no clue, except that I am blown away at the $2 + cost per each.

They are metal cased and do have a little weight to them. They are fairly durable and I payed something like $32 for 50 of them.

I don't buy the plastic snap caps any more. They always start to crack & come apart very quickly. I've had a couple break the first time I chambered them.

I like the A-Zooms (all I have now), but the aluminum is pretty soft and gets chewed up by the extractor.

The ones dalto linked look interesting. They appear to have brass cases, just like real ammo.

A-Zooms here too. Seem to last longer than the rest.

You didn't sprecify caliber, but in rimfire calibers there are snap-caps and there are action proving rounds. A-Zoom makes both.The action proving rounds are permanently deformed with each strike.

That's a much better price tha the competition.

Currently they are getting $ 0.84 each for 40 S&W but still better than the others.

Used these for a tactical handgun course and they are awesome. The instructor pretty much insisted on them over any others. We would randomly insert them into the magazine to practice FTF drills and clearing double feeds. They were mixed in with the live rounds and took a beating just fine, no need to baby them.

It's not like you need a case of them. Get what's recommended. I have snap caps for most, maybe all my calibers, but no more that what's in a package. Mine are A-Zoom.

Take your gun to the range and practice with live ammo. You benefit from the IDPA/IPSC training and learn how to deal with the real stuff. For newbies and improving trigger control snap caps may help.
