Car/center console holster ideas
my wife carries her XD sc in her car and since she has a job that requires her to mostly work in hospitals, nursing homes, and assisted livings, she does not carry (nor does she have her CHL, YET) on her person. I don't like the idea of her pistol just laying in the console of her car bouncing around.
I've toyed with the idea of mounting the stock XD holster that came with the gun but thought I would ask here first for any ideas.

I say go for it...as long as it's out of sight, there's no problem.
The benefits are:
1. The gun is not bouncing around loose.
2. The gun is always in the same place for quick and easy acquisition.
You might also consider a more secure method. Something like a console gun vault.
There are some good ones on the market these days.

I used velcro to mount a holster in my wife's console. The holster is one of those that is made for the concealed carry vests with velcro on both sides. It keeps the firearm in one place and I didn't have to drill holes to mount it. She brings the firearm in at night, so anyone breaking into the car has to do it in daylight hours in a well traveled parking lot.

Mine lodges nicely in the door pocket with a rag loosely draped over it. A poster once said that the disadvantage of that is that a BG can open the door before you can reach it, and he (or she?) will be closer to it than I would. But I don't consider that such a downside. The weapon is very easy to reach with my left hand without groping or looking down. Try it.

I don't have the same gun as your wife, but I find that putting my gun in a holster secures it enough a provides easy access in a console or glove box. I have never felt the need to mount or secure the holster.

Go for it. I have an ultra carry that I keep in my console. I used gorilla glue and glued a holster to the console and it works awesome. It keeps it from bouncing around and it is always in the same place everytime.

A buddy of mine mounted a Blackhawk SERPA to the underside of the dash on his pickup, just below and to the right of the steering column. You can't see it unless you are in the truck, and it is secure and easy to reach his Glock 26.

ooooh, now that's slick! I might have to do that for my truck too.maverick2076 wrote:A buddy of mine mounted a Blackhawk SERPA to the underside of the dash on his pickup, just below and to the right of the steering column. To me, those don't seem to meet the "concealed" requirement well enough.Chemist45 wrote:This looks rather interesting:

I think it would draw unwanted attention from a Police Officer with a well
trained eye in the event you were pulled over for a traffic violation.

Re: Car/center console holster ideas
This is what I use while in truck , but I changed it up some. I added a loop with a snap over the end on pistol so it stays in place and rotated it under front to seat so its out if sight but where I can get to it when needed. For me works great....

But then again , in the New Chevy trucks under the center console there is a key lockable console in them. If I ever have to leave pistol behind I lock it in there.

I had exactly the same thought.USA1 wrote:To me, those don't seem to meet the "concealed" requirement well enough....Anyone else?
This week I plan to mount one of these in my truck (I've owned it for a while, but procrastinated about installing it): http://www.smarttouchstore.com/product_p/biobox.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
They're cheaper on ebay, just make sure you're ordering the real deal and not a knockoff.
For more secure (but slower access) storage, I have one of these installed in my truck: http://consolevault.com/

Re: Car/center console holster ideas
I just got an email for Botach Tachtical for this , good price too...
You could drill some holes in it and mount in your console
