Let us know how that goes, I have been eyeballin' rails for a bit just haven't pulled the trigger ( so to speak) yet.loneaggie wrote:As a web developer by trade, I'm always looking for something interesting when I learn a new framework to test it out on. <SNIP>Mainly I wanted to do something with a framework called Rails, and I figured another repository of information for chlers couldn't be a bad thing. <snip>

I'm a software developer too, and while scratching the development itch is a good thing, do we really need another 30.06 site? Russell has made great strides in making his site the "go to" site for 30.06. Now you're asking us to support two sites? I don't think so.
Why don't you focus your energies on working off of Russell's progress in a collaborative effort? Maybe merging the two sites together? I know Russell has spoken about revamping the UI. All of this simply reeks of wasted effort, something I see in the software world quite often.
Good luck...but you won't be getting any updates from me, because I simply don't have the time to submit entries to two sites.

Re: CHL Website Resource
I've done a ton of stuff in PHP, and most recently with CodeIgniter. Rails takes some getting used to, but once you get the feel for it and don't fight it, it makes some things incredibly simple. Due to snow and ice I was stuck at home today, so in a few hours added an entire version of it for mobile browsers. I am now in the position where I dread the project that I do in php.Dragonfighter wrote:Let us know how that goes, I have been eyeballin' rails for a bit just haven't pulled the trigger ( so to speak) yet.loneaggie wrote:As a web developer by trade, I'm always looking for something interesting when I learn a new framework to test it out on. <SNIP>Mainly I wanted to do something with a framework called Rails, and I figured another repository of information for chlers couldn't be a bad thing. <snip>
