Made My First first 1911 Holster. (Small of Back)
Except for the edge coating (I only had dark brown, would like to use a more neutral color) I am pretty happy with it. Very comforatble fit. I constructed this one so that you are carrying handle up. This allows you to draw from the small of your back (actually I carry at 5 o'clock) without sweeping the barrel accross your body with less effort than you do with traditional s.o.b carry.
I think now that I have the prototype finsihed, I will construct another one with a nicer finish.
It is constructed of all Herman Oak Leather (13-15 ounce)
Glued and hand stitched with poly wax cord.
Let me know what you think.
BTW...I have a pattern for any 1911 ready to go, if you would like me to build you one drop me a line.

I'm finishing up my first holster, a sparks vm2 knock off. We should collaborate and learn together. Your stitching looks great.

Thanks! I appreciate that. I am hoping once I get all of the ins and outs figured out, I will be able to start doing custom leather work for shooting sports. Building holsters is a bit different than building saddles and purses...lolgigag04 wrote:I'm finishing up my first holster, a sparks vm2 knock off. We should collaborate and learn together. That's right up my alley! Love it.
I'm kinda partial to a nice simple piece of leather. Don't get me wrong, I love an ornate hand-tooled piece of leather too, but it's just not me....
Well done!
I'm also curious to see how Gigag's VM knockoff comes out...I've been thinking of getting one, but the rush-to-order just never seems to work out for me...
