It's been about 5 years since I regularly handled a 1911. Everything I've been shooting for the last 5 years hasn't had a safety. That's why I have barely put her down since I brought her home. Getting use to the feel again.
You're also right in that it was unloaded. In fact, I don't even HAVE any ammo for her yet.
