I figure if Utah can adopt a state gun were not far behind.
So if we adopted a state gun what gun do you think would fit our history and image?

How about a weapon from the Republic of Texas?

The Colt might rank at the top, but the shotgun had wider ownership (everyone) and did more to tame the countryside and provide food.

I know it's old school, but how 'bout a Billy Dixon '74 Sharps rifle? :txflag:

A small derringer because the Old West sixguns are hard to conceal.

Consider how many owned either a Sharps, a derringer, or a Winchester 73.

Respectively, the mental image is of buffalo hunters, gamblers, and cowboys.

Then consider that each and every family had to own a shotgun for defense and procuring food.

After all - This IS Texas!

How could it be anything but the trusty SIX GUN ????

(Maybe WITH a 30-30 to boot!)

Something about the Taurus Judge says Texas to me, versatile, powerful, reliable and like nothing else seen before.I think Texas' gun needs to be a revolver, rugged and dependable, like Texas. :txflag:

I'll second the double barrel shotgun.

Seems Travis used one at the Alamo. Not much other information as to type, maker, etc.

Here's one citation I found http://www.tamu.edu/faculty/ccbn/dewitt ... _arms.html.

That would have been my suggestion.

But mabe it's not available because it was our national gun.
