I like a response I saw elsewhere.
"It's a health maintenance device"
Well?

I've been bothered by being given away some how or other, but I remember something I read that someone else said when spotted. He said; "shhhh, I'm under cover". Kind of a "wise guy" answer, but it just might work.

I get a kick out of the drunken stoned idiot on COPS caught with contraband in their pocket saying ...
"These aren't my pants"
Apparently that answer never works.
No one ever "made" me, but, I'd probably say it's a medical device, or my PDA, (Personal Defense Assistant) if they asked about my SafePacker, but if I'm actually unconcealed accidentally, I'd say I'm legal to carry it. (Although where I live, probably everyone in the HEB with me is too, and would just whisper that my 2A was showing)

You sure about that? From my reading, traveling is still there. The MPA just adds conditions that make a legislated presumption of traveling.jamisjockey wrote:You could still think of it as travelling, but travelling was removed from the text of the law.

I was made once by my own mom. We are a family of chl holders. We were in a park for my nephews birthday party, i will say the best protected birthday in Texas. Me and my mom were joking around at the playground and in front of God and the other 30 people she said very loudly "Just because your packing heat doesn't mean you can tell me what to do." She had a smile on her face and she didn't realize what she said i hope. But to my surprise nobody skipped a beat. We did have a little talk later about codewords ha ha. No cops came to the park and no cops at the door.......Yet.

I carry my kahr k9 in a desantis superfly pocket holster in my front right pockets. It does bulge a bit but it has more of a square outline. I have been carrying for about a year this way and to date no one has ever commented about it. I think they just assume it's a cellphone or other electronic gadget. If any one does ever ask my pre programmed response is that it is my gps. And that I don't like leaving it in my car to get stolen or damaged by heat.

I think I've been made once. It surprised me (in a funny way), so I instinctively made the biggest grin
Re: What to do if you are "made"?
When I first went out I couldn't imagine that everyone didn't notice the bulge in my front pants pocket. Well men don't look there and women find me invisible already so they don't look either. Before I carried, I carried a pocket camera there so, if someone asks: its my pocket camera or I'm just happy to see them.

+1. For about 6 years I've had the same pocket carry in a variety of clothes, never an untucked shirt, and never had any issues.philip964 wrote:When I first went out I couldn't imagine that everyone didn't notice the bulge in my front pants pocket. Re: What to do if you are "made"?
I was "co-made" once. Four of us motor-sickle riding buddies finished a great BBQ lunch on the road. I was standing in line to pay with the other 3 lined up behind me. My buddy behind me turned quickly to his left to speak to the buddy behind him and his 3 o'clock "PDA" smacked into my 4:00 "PDA" with a bit of a clanging sound. We both looked surprised for a second then let it go.
[Insert pithy witicism here]

Be calm about it and act normal. Getting worried about it will only make you look like you have done something wrong. And guess what? You didn't so life goes on!
Re: What to do if you are "made"?
Most people live in their own little existance with their own pressing concerns. The odds of being made are rather extreme through I did make an older gentlemen out for a walk in a strong wind the other day. First one I saw that I was sure about. Don't act guilty as this will only scare people. If Open carry does pass it will relieve us of the concerns about printing.

I know this advice has been given, but smile, nod, conceal, and walk away. First off, you are not brandishing, at least on purpose. You accidentally got made. If you are polite, and then walk away, then you can be gone before any official presence shows up if the person who made you feels so inclined to notify.

Re: What to do if you are "made"?
I've been carrying about a year and was made the other day by my wife. She knows I carry when not at work and occassionaly will ask if I am carrying. She is also deathly scared of guns. We were at a family party in Houston the other day when she exclaims "I touched your gun". Every head turned as most of the family does not know. We were at my stepsons house and later he told me he felt safer when someone carries.
I had not had the talk with her that concealed is concealed but later that evening I explained why its not a good idea to tell.
