Have many times,

I have a special leather one made to fit/retain a Glock 19 with twin zippers and a pull tab for fast access

Also
http://www.google.com/search?q=fanny+pa ... b9f40b6df9" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
But I have other leather ones too just plain ones I've carried other guns in.

Caution, use holster/something to cover trigger inside the pack and don't toss other items in with gun like keys chapstick etc which could activate trigger.

I bought one from Tommys Gun Pack. It is a nice unit, but I haven't ever used it.

I have a Merlin Pack (fannypack) that I use for my Glock 36 when going casual (short, no belt, etc.).

OK, I'll admit it...I've been using a fanny pack lately. :leaving

... But only on the weekends and only for quick runs to the
store and such when I didn't feel like "holstering up".

My favorite fanny pack is not a "gun" fanny pack. It's the regular
kind, but it's very slim and just big enough to hold my 1911.

I have never personally used one, though I actually believe it would be a great way to carry a larger gun than I normally carry in shorts or light clothes. Since "fanny packs" are relatively uncommon in certain situations, some people believe they "scream" GUN. A former neighbor of mine and FED LEO used to wear one (fanny pack) on weekends. It looked so out of place when he was wearing gym shorts and t-shirt and puttering around his "project car", that I knew he was carrying. I know his badge and "fed creds" were in there too, since he had once shown me during a different conversation.

Yeah Fanny packs are like Hawaiian shirts, they are ok in some places, I wouldn't wear a Hawaiian shirt to church ...
Fanny packs are good at outdoor Street festivals, Amusement parks where carrying is allowed, going to parks or fishing, and of course at Wal-Mart "anything goes"

I still normally wear IWB holster, since it is faster to access, but there are times a Fanny Pack works very well. Maybe not everywhere, but I look like an old retired tourist anyway so I can get away with most any "look".
Prior to finding 2 or 3 IWB holsters I really really like, my Glock 19 pretty much lived in a Fanny pack. Now, it just visits on special occasions.

I've gotten so comfortable with my Velcro lined Comptac belt and Desantis Tuck This 2 holster (I added sticky back Velcro) that I just forgot to wear a Fanny Pack at last Weekend's Bluebonnet Festival and wore my Glock IWB and had a Pocket BUG in my cargo shorts pocket and about 87 rounds of ammo on me. So I didn't think to wear a Fanny Pack with a third gun+ammo.

I just can't get on the fanny pack band wagon. I just dont like the look. Same thing with the messenger bags that have concealment pockets on them. I just don't like the look.

do not use a fanny pack. First of all you will look like a nerd, plus anyone who knows anything about concealing could possibly call you out. Find another method. Search the inter-webs about another way to carry. It's still a pain no matter what. Dont use hooks, belt loops work best.

I used a fanny pack on 1/1/1996, the first day of legal carry in Texas. I was made on my first time out. In a super market a dumb bell pointed and said "Are you packin'?" I went home and added it to my holster box and it has never been used again.

Sometimes I wear 2 fanny packs
I like to carry candy in one and tampons in one. If a bad guy wants my to hand them over, I'll do it and my hand will be real close to my IWB holster.

Really I do that at amusement parks where they searched/looked inside fanny packs ... I like to see their faces.

I wear a pocket protector and a bunch of pens on those days too

RPB, you have one STRANGE sense of humor.

On topic, I sometimes use fanny pack. IWB is ok for me for shorter trips, but I don't make many of them. OWB - I haven't quite worked out to be satisfactory for me. Right now, I go back and forth between purse carry and fanny pack - these are my two current favorite carry methods. Then again, my carry methods seem to vary from quarter (of the year) to quarter. Guess I'm just fickle. :-)

Funny story: I was away from home, on business, in a town where concealed carry was NOT legal, period, end of sentence. But I still used a fanny pack - to carry the stuff I didn't have pocket room for and that I didn't want to carry a purse for. I'm sure I looked like a properly nerdy tourist. Fine by me.

I wouldn't be caught dead in one.

No offense to those who wear them.
