Cargo Pant Pocket Holster Recommendations
Hi Guys,
I did a bunch of searching and there are lots of great recommendations for IWB conceal holsters. This is great except, I don't wear belts, I mainly wear shorts.....
Is there a good holster for a Sig 229 where it won't print in my cargo pockets. Also when I am driving, it will be under a newspaper / jacket so I would need to be able to draw relatively quickly.
Any recommendations would be great.
Thanks.

For me at least, cargo pants don't really work due to the weight of the gun being a bit clumsy when it is hung down that low. It tends to swing back and forth to much. YMMV

I have a Desantis Nemesis for pocket carrying my .357 snubbie. Works great in cargo shorts.... which is when I usually carry that way. But I also sometimes carry it that way in jeans too, so it's pretty versatile.

My suggestion would be to do what I did. I pocket carry my S&W M&P9c daily. You can't find (or at least I couldn't) a pocket holster for that gun. So, I went to knifekits.com, ordered some kydex and grommets and made my own holster. I designed it after the kydex holster that I had for my S&W 642 at the time, but basically you just heat the kydex up to it's floppy state, (wearing gloves) fold it over the gun, form it to the shape of the gun and then trim off what doesn't look like a holster to you. I made mine so that the outward facing side didn't really retain the shape of the gun so that it doesn't look as much like a gun if I do happen to print. Just looks like a big phone or something.

I have a Nemesis that I have used to pocket carrry a Sig 229. The holster works fine but understand that the Sig 229 is kind of a big gun to pocket carry. It can be done but requires a big pocket and tends to be kind of clunky.

+1 on the Nemisis. Good holster. Fairly thin and protects the trigger.

I have two Mika pocket holsters and they are excellent.

229 is kind of a giant gun to be sticking in a pocket. Even if your pocket is big enough for it, it is going to make you walk funny just due to the weight swinging around loose on your leg.

Re: Cargo Pant Pocket Holster Recommendations
Are you talking about the front pocket or the cargo pocket on the side of the shorts? I tried to carry in the side cargo pocket and it was not very practical. I tried a couple of different pocket holsters and they both eventually "turned" where the handgrip was pointed straight up and getting it out was a chore. I tried sewing Velcro into the pocket and it helped keep the orientation to my liking, however, all the weight created a pendulum effect that drove me crazy when walking. Keeping my shorts up was a problem (with a belt).
For the front pocket, I like this Don Hume:

Good luck on your search! Let us know what you eventually use and how it works out for you.

Re: Cargo Pant Pocket Holster Recommendations
Just received my PT1 from pistolwear.com today and wore it around the house without anything in it. Extremely comfortable so far ... we'll see tomorrow doing the Wally walk. Quality product ...
I normally wear some type of sweat pants or shorts and a t-shirt ... larger guy about 6' and 220 pds.
I'll let you know tomorrow
