One adopted what I call the "Farmer Brown" exemption that allows employers to prevent employees from taking firearms onto Farmer Brown's property to drill or maintain an oil or gas well, if the mineral lease contract requires that no firearms be brought onto the property. The second amendment removed an effective date that would only apply the Farmer Brown exception to leases signed prior to Sept. 1, 2011.

Now here's the big question that I have, how does one go about determining if the property is subject to a valid gas, oil, or mineral lease? And if it is, how do we obtain the terms to see if firearms are prohibited?

If you mean as an employee, you do not have a right to review a contract to which you are not a party.

I see. So, how would one verify that they are safe to have a firearm in their vehicle in their employers parking lot?

I understand that the Senate would have to agree to the "Farmer Brown" ammendments, but what will happen with the Chemical plant exception that the house B&I committee substituted? When the senate passed SB321, it didn't have the exception in it.

Hooray! :txflag:

Now that it's passed, I have a question. I am an employee of the Federal Government. I park in a government leased parking lot. There is a rule in our employee handbook that we are not allowed to posses a weapon in our vehicles on Government leased property. Guns are otherwise allowed in the parking lot. This law will cover me even thought I'm an employee of the Federal Government, correct?

The employer would have to tell employees not to carry on Farmer Brown's property.

Thank God we at least got the employee parking lot bill. Campus carry seems to be on life support.

Yay!!! We got one! I'll take it. There's still time on CC, though. Not much, but it's still there.

Actually campus carry moved right along pretty smoothly in Senate except that Zaffi pulled her bill it was attached to.

Press and Woodheads make it sound like "Campus carry failed in Senate ... Again" when actually THAT Amendment PASSED and she pulled the bill because it DIDN'T "fail"

Wentworth only needed 16 but consistently had 19 and usually 20 so effectively "campus carry succeeded in Senate with a margin to spare .... then she pulled the bill it was attached to

You're parsing words. I'm sorry, but I prefer to be realistic. Wentworth doesn't have the votes to suspend the rules, and unless he can attach it to a bill that the Dems absolutely must pass campus carry is dead.

Depends, how many and which Senators won't kill their own bills, cutting off their own constituatnts wishes just for one bill which affects them hardly at all.

All he needs is Germane-ness

Not everyone is as idiotic as Zaffrini, "if you don't play my way I won't give schools money ..."

I'm sure Teachers/staff/campus police losing jobs, and Students and Parents will enjoy the higher Tuition she cost them and should vote accordingly.... well, some will, some won't ... we'll see
