G30 or G30SF

#1

Post by snatchel »

Hey guys. Any of y'all own and carry a G30 or G30SF? I have a G36, but am seriously thinking about getting rid of it. It's a great little pistol, but I want the extra mag capacity. Another thing that annoys me is that mag swapping doesn't work like other Glocks. :mad5

So pics of what it looks like carried? Advice? Reviews?

I have contemplated both the G21 and G30, and dwelled on the SF vs. standard.

The complication I see is whether local dealers have both in stock at once or ranges have both available for rental.

I miss my 30sf. We use the 21sf at work and it was a great compliment.

i've had a Gen. 1 G-21 since the early 90's, bought a Gen. 3 G-30 about 2 years ago and love it. I fits my hand perfect and has less felt recoil than my Gen. 1 G-21. Never handled a SF model so can't comment on that. When I carry the G-30 it's in a Cross Breed Super tuck, carry's well w/that holster in my opinion.

I haven't tried this myself, but supposedly you can mount the G36 slide on the G30 frame and get a double-stack compact .45 Glock. Sounds like the best of both. I have a 36 too but the 6rd mag is just too much of a limitation for me to EDC.

Steve, i've heard the same thing as well. I have never wanted to fork the money over for a G30 lower to throw on the slide and risk it though! LoL.

Think i'm going to go ahead and trade of... demand for the G36's is high anyway, and I can pick up a G30SF fairly easily

I carry a g30 most of the time now. Even though it is bigger than my g26, which i used to carry, you can still conceal it fairly well. I normally carry OWB but with a crossbeed supertuck, it disappears. Plus the g30 is a real soft shooter and accurate. It will be heavier and, i believe, wider than the g36 so keep that in mind.

Not to start a "urine" contest, but assuming that I now own 9mm Glock / .38 Special / .357 Magnum, would I be better served with .40 S&W or .45 ACP and Glock or another brand? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I suggest you start another thread concerning your question/seeking advice because the OP didnt start the thread to discuss calibers. You probably will get more responses that way. Good luck with your search!

I'd get the Glock 30SF. Mine fits my hand perfectly and as mentioned before, it's a real soft shooter. I haven't carried it yet because I haven't decided on a holster. Or it may just be one of my house guns, haven't decided yet. I do intend to shoot it in GSSF competition along with my Glock 17 and/or Glock 19.

No malfunctions out of 300 rounds.

Hey Snatchel.

What did you end up getting? If you did get the 30SF, what holster(s) do you use?

That goes for anyone else with a 30SF. What holsters do you use?

Huge fan of Comp-Tac in general and the CTAC specifically. I've carried my G30 in one for years, my G19 has the slide version to ride in, as does my Compact CDP.

I carry a G30SF every day from when I wake up to when I go to bed. I use a holster from AKJ Concealco http://www.greatholsters.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. It's extremely comfortable to carry with this IWB holster. It's also very easy to conceal at the 3:00 position. This holster really tucks the pistol into you.

I thought I was going to be able to just order a new cover for my MTAC Minotaur, but I found out today that I have a first generation version and they will not make anymore covers for this one. So, I will take a look at everything for IWB and OWB.
