Sad, but about what I expect from Baltimore. The rest of the state both east and west is much more gun-friendly (western MD is more akin to West Virginia than Baltimore), but Baltimore and the DC suburbs dominate the state population-wise, and the gun laws reflect that. Maryland Shall-Issue is the main organization fighting the good fight for shall-issue CCW and other gun laws in Maryland.

I didn't find the actual message too upsetting. It's not like it warned that the driver would be a crazed gun nut. It is simply an observation that he is more likely to be armed.

Think I may get me that distressed tan hat... That's a pretty cool hat...
As far as the Police Warning about the stickers... Well, it's either gonna be an issue with the ones who have a hard time with CHL or it's gonna be a non issue with the ones who don't. Seems to me it's kind of stupid make it a point to single out a specific type of sticker... You would assume they would think that EVERY driver is armed until proven otherwise to ensure the utmost safety.
Just sayin'

+1 on the tan hat.
I would hope that the police officers realize that it's the good guys who openly support the 2nd amendment.

They said the notice was in response to numerous inquiries about the sticker, meaning they didn't single it out - they just addressed the questions they were hearing.Medic624 wrote:Seems to me it's kind of stupid make it a point to single out a specific type of sticker...

Every officer I've ever known worth his salt assumed that everyone he encounters on the job is armed until he can prove otherwise.
If an officer is looking at a bumper sticker for an indication of danger or conversly safety, he's a fool.
Of course, waddaIknow?? I design media systems for a livin.....

I lived there as a young family man. Took my kids, wife and my guns and fled. Far to the left.

Re: Baltimore Police Issue 2nd Amendment Decal Warning
I have no personal experience in Western Maryland although I've heard it is pretty much as described - closer to a West Virginia mentality on guns. We lived near Wilmington and I had most of the Eastern Shore of Maryland as my territory. That is red-neck country and very gun friendly.
Baltimore is more like NJ - very gun unfriendly (except for the criminals, of course) and some (many?) of the LEOs view the law as more like guidelines. The first 10 Amendments pretty much fall into the guidelines category. I tried my best to stay away from there. I'm sure not holding my breath, waiting for the Shall Issue status in MD to appear unless it is forced by Federal legislation.

Does this mean I'd have to remove my "Driver only carries $20 worth of ammo" bumper sticker?

Doesn't really seem like a big deal. The bulletin was at least truthful.
Intel types at every organization (including mine) love to find something out, research it and then generate a bulletin for LE.

The bulletin contains the following caption in bold red letters:
“….while the individual who is displaying the symbol may not be armed, the presence of the symbol provides an early warning indicator that you MAY be about to encounter an armed individual.”
So...............?
