I just ask myself, if I was a witness to this and it was my Mother/Wife being backed into the corner, what would I do? The boys father should be asked the same question?

You do not have to touch someone before they are allowed to defend themselves. If you approach me in a way that makes me believe you are intent on doing me harm, I am not going to wait for you to hit me before I react.

His actions were threatening, is it really so surprising that she felt threatened?

My wife is a teacher, and I work with MR students with criminal histories. If a person approached my wife in that way, I'd expect her to fight back. If anyone gave her grief about it, then I'd step in (in every legal, justified way, of course).....
Howdy y'all. Glad to be here.....

In my view the boy was posturing to invoke the reaction he got, so then he would be able to be respond "in defense" of himself. I am not saying the teacher was wrong in her actions but when she swung she lost the battle she did just what he wanted, she lowered herself from the "adult" role and fell into the parent or child role. People like this boy push and push to get YOU to respond in a violent manner so then they are the poor victim.

How convenient.

Good for her!

It is my opinion that this cell phone video was shot in order to try and get the teacher in hot water. Notice how none of the students tried to get him away until she hit him. Also, as she swung a young lady can be heard saying "OH MY GOD! He didn't do anything. You can't hit him in the face." You can even see the big bully in the background looking around and holding his arms out as if to say "did you see what she did to me"

I do not know where they get it from but for some reason the youth in this country (and many others for that matter) feel like they can do whatever it is that they want and get away with it. I am guessing that their parents are not parenting and not teaching them that their actions have consequences. I have said this for far too long, parents these days don't want to be parents. Instead they want to be friends. They allow their children to do, act, and say whatever without repercussions and the children are taking this mentality into schools, malls, restaurants, etc.

I am glad that I found a good southern woman that wants to raise our children the same way we were. Respect your elders, use manners, and ALL your actions have consequences no matter where you are.

Disagree. She didn't lower herself to any level. She defended herself. I would expect my wife(a teacher) to defend herself in the same way. If it was a male 30 yr old male teacher that is capable of defending himself then your point could possibly have some validity. But IMO, not in this case.

One more thing. You don't know what the boy said to her. What if he said "I'm going to rape you". What would you expect her to do then?

Be the adult.

People like this boy will do/say anything legal to provoke a response, My son(17) is like this boy and he does this with me all the time, when I called the police after he trashed my kitchen and raised his fist to me they would do nothing because he did not strike me. Now had I hit him I would be going to jail. We all have our breaking point she met hers and lost the battle even if it was a sweet satisfying loss.

If that was my kid, When he got home he would have caught another one for being disrespectful in the first place.
