I just got word yesterday I've been scheduled for the August 22-26 instructor class. Anyone else going to that one?

I'm putting my app in tomorrow, and crossing my fingers I get scheduled that soon :)

How long from the time of your app to being scheduled?

I put in my app in mid May. I was hoping I'd get into the late June class, but wasn't offered that one. Guess they had too many in line ahead of me. They first offered me the August 1-5 class but that one wouldn't fit into my schedule.

I sent my RSVP e-mail right after I received it. I should be there, too!

+1 on the Aug 22-26. I did my app back in mid April and just got confirmation.

Thats to bad. I am headed to the Aug1-4 class. Would have been nice to have another member of the "forum family" there.

I just got in on the Aug 22-26th class.Looking forward to it. One thing that boggles me is that when I check online to see y background check status it says under review. I sent my packet in back in May and I am current CHL holder so I am not quite sure what the hold is. Well I will be seeing you folks in a few days drive safe.

That status will not change. (Or at least it didn't last year.) Doesn't mean anything. If your background is clear, you'll get your cert at the completion of the class.

Anyone received the information packet yet for the 22-26 class? I'm not sure how early they send them, but we only have about a week left now before class.

It was an interesting first day. The officer doing the use of force presentation did give some incorrect information, however. In the section on justification of deadly force, he taught that "in the nighttime" also applied to burglary, robbery, and aggravated assault. He also used theft, burglary, and robbery interchangeably and didn't distinguish the difference between them.

Who else is here this week?

I guess no one else here this week is checking the forum. DPS does read these forums, BTW. They commented a couple of times today about having read what has been posted already about the instructor class this week, and suggested all the instructors check the TexasCHLforum out which I thought was nice. I know they're pretty limited in what they can appear to "endorse" so I was a little surprised they mentioned it.

All righty, DPS instructors and training coordinators, if you're reading this it would be nice if I could know ahead of time what the potential class dates are so I can plan ahead. I'm a NM CHL instructor and I have all my app materials in to get set up for Texas classes, but I'm having trouble scheduling my NM classes because I don't want to make it so I can't attend your class.

I know it's way too early in the process to know exactly which class I will be scheduled for, but just knowing what the future class dates will be would be extremely helpful. Heck, just knowing what dates are under consideration (and, by extension, which dates are NOT under consideration) would be just about as helpful.

I look forward to being in your class, whenever that is :)

I seem to recall they said the next class would be in October if that helps. Don't know what the exact dates are.
