CHL-friendly credit union in Dallas area?
My current CU (Texans) decided that since they are in receivership, they are free to screw over their long-time customers by charging an outrageous $25/month service fee on business checking accounts. I have an America's CU local to me, but their branch is 30.06-posted, so I won't be doing business with them.
Can anyone point me towards a CHL-friendly credit union? It takes me at least 5 minutes to explain to the person at the other end what I mean by that, so I figured it would be quicker just to ask here.
BTW, if you're considering Texans CU, I'd suggest running, not walking, to another CU.

I left Texans CU several years ago for several reasons. I had talked with them about my reasons many times and they were not at all respondent. When I left and pulled all my money out, including my IRA, they were all over me to reconsider. They would work with me to resolve the problems. Too little, too late.
After all I had only been with them for 45 years.

The local credit union co-op branch is the only place we have had to go back to the car for since we started carrying... we used the drive through because we had to go, but I was very disappointed. The regular bank we use is not posted and the 1st Community Credit Union co-op branch is not posted either; although their counter is just the right height for my 9mm to "Thunk" against the counter prompting the teller to ask me if that hurt.

Your Community Credit Union at 635 & Beltline.
It was originally the IBM Employees Federal Credit Union, then changed to Your Federal Credit Union, then this year, became a "Texas" credit union and changed it's name again.
Been banking there for almost 30 years.
One of the Officer's is a good friend and is certainly gun friendly. No signs posted at main office, and the cheesy "No guns" sign at the branch in NRH (HWY26 & Precinct Line) is not valid and can be casually ignored

Don't know if they go as far up as Dallas, but if they do check out Randolph-Brooks FCU. Went to one of their branches last week and became a member. Real friendly people, real good rates (loans and saving type accounts) and no signs of any type that I saw(compliant/non-compliant-nothing). It has been a long time since I have seen one, but they had a security guard sitting on a stool near the door on the inside. I wish I had not waited so long to become a member.

Viewpoint Bank. It's not a credit union though. Used to be Community Credit Union. Now it's a mutual savings institution. I'm always armed when I enter.

I also went to ViewPoint Bank when I left Texans. ViewPoint has very good interest rates (by today's standards). Very happy with them.
They have "gun-buster" signs, but no 30.06.

By CHL friendly do you mean no 30.06 signs or gunbuster signs? I belong to Credit union of Texas formerly Dallas Teachers Credit Union since 1983. Of course I've never asked and the've never offered.
Re: CHL-friendly credit union in Dallas area?
I would consider a with a gunbuster signs, NOT CHL friendly IT will not prevent me from still carrying, but a CHL friendly bank, is a bank that does not have any indications of NO guns allowed...SC1903A3 wrote:By CHL friendly do you mean no 30.06 signs or gunbuster signs? The Bank I go to has a 30.06 sign, but the sign is NOT consider legal..
1. I will NOT carry in any place that has a 30.06 sign, legal or not legal..
2. I WILL carry in place that has gunbuster signs or similar.
If approached by LEO , #1 LEO may not accept legal or not legal, could still be charged. (Assuming the DA would not pursue charges)
If approached by LEO , #2, I would point out have have a copy of 30.06 on my phone, and not likely charged.

I was looking to quit Texans CU when they closed the Sherman branch. Made the closest one the branch at Ratheon in McKinney and it's 30.06 posted. The one down off El Dorado is not posted. I have not found another CU or bank that treats me as good as Texans does right now. Still looking though.

I believe the only Texans CU Branches that are posted are the ones on a TI or Raytheon site.

I bank at two banks, Viewpoint, and Bank of the West. The former has gunbusters signs, but the former officers who sold me on that bank knew about my CHL, and they didn't care one way or the other about it. Bank of the West (Grapevine) not only has no signage, but my wife and I had to produce our CHLs as second photo IDs because that's all we had. I told the bank president, "I hope this isn't freaking you out." She replied that not only was it not freaking her out, but she didn't understand how come everybody doesn't have a CHL, because it would make the world a safer place in her estimation.

Re: CHL-friendly credit union in Dallas area?
I have banked with Bank of America for years. Although I am aggravated at their policies towards illegals, I have never seen one with any type of gun sign period..in fact, I would stand and talk with the teller and his manager about CHL's and guns. In fact, one day he asked if he could see it. Since it was in an external belt pouch, I handed it to him and he looked at it under the counter.
