Hey guys, I'm still pretty new to using pistols, so I wanted some advice from some of you more exp users.
I currently have a Glock32 with .357 and a .40 cal barrels, but the recoil and "punch" (can't think of a better word) behind it don't really work for me. I have to hold onto the thing so tight, the grip is uncomfortable and I don't really enjoy shooting it for more than a few rounds, also my aim suffers. This is probably due to my wrists being weak still and not being used to firing pistols much yet, I've been practicing, but I'm still working out my grip and trigger pulling techniques etc... Anyway, I was wondering before going out and spending the money... if I purchased a Glock32 --> 9mm conversion barrel (about $200) if the difference in recoil (9mm instead of the .357/.40) would be enough that I might not mind shooting it so much, or would you guys recommend just trying to sell/trade the Glock for something I am more comfortable with ?
As always I appreciate you guys feedback.

Re: Glock32 9.mm conversion question
What is your intended use? For general target shooting these conversion barrels work great. For best reliability however, you likely need to also switch to 9mm extractor and ejector (an easy swap, but dies require complete disassembly of Glock). Even with that, absolute reliability for self defense is not guaranteed.
Also if just converting to 9mm for practice/cost savings, you'll still need to practice with .357 some to be sure gun runs properly with your self defense caliber.

Re: Glock32 9.mm conversion question
Unless you just want options for the range...
I think I see the path you are thinking of taking.
I had a Glock 27, bought a conversion barrel. bought the ejector, extractor, and spring loaded bearing to convert it to a Glock 26
Figured why am I doing this? Traded it all for a Glock 26 which I've carried daily for years and years now.
Researched ammo, carry either Hornady Critical Defense or Speer Gold Dots with Stock # 23614 (the low recoil+low flash ones, there are several types of 9mm Gold Dots but # 23614 is the lower recoil ones)
You might look into trading before spending a lot more on various parts trying to build what you like.... I'd have saved $ if I'd have traded sooner.

If it's for carry, don't get a conversion kit. Too many things can go wrong when you least need them to.Apothix wrote:Hey guys, I'm still pretty new to using pistols, so I wanted some advice from some of you more exp users.

One thing you might want to consider is a "downloaded" .40S&W load. Federal makes personal defense ammo that has reduced recoil (http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?p ... ber=227533" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;).
Another option is to see if somebody wants to "trade up" on Texas Gun Trader. Probably not your best option, but for personal defense, I never recommend anything other than what the gun was made for.
I don't fear guns; I fear voters and politicians that fear guns.

Re: Glock32 9.mm conversion question
Thanks guys.. I decided to go ahead and take your advice and just trade it out... I ended up trading it with the nice folks over at Spring Guns and Ammo for a Beretta 92FS Inox. And I couldn't be happier... I love it...

Got to ya a little late, but I will answer your original post:Apothix wrote:Thanks guys.. I decided to go ahead and take your advice and just trade it out... I ended up trading it with the nice folks over at Spring Guns and Ammo for a Beretta 92FS Inox. And I couldn't be happier... I love it...
I have a G33 (357) which is the same size as a G27 (.40) There is no difference in the guns except for the barrel. You have, make that had, a G32 (357) which is the same as a G23 (40) except for the barrel.
I bought a Lone Wolf 40-9 conversion barrel for my G33...I wanted to shoot 9mm for the price of ammo. I ended up getting a 40-9 conversion for my G23...which fits the G32, G33, and G27. Its sticks out a bit on the 33 and 27, but I dont really care because of its functionality.
One of the posters mentioned that he would not carry with a conversion barrel...I concur.
