snake loads w semi-automatic?

Never tried because I didn't know they made them for semi-auto rounds. I'm gonna do a search right after I post this.

What caliber and gun do you use?
EDIT: I searched .45, .40 and 9mm and CCI makes all three. The 9mm and .40 SW have the typical plastic capsule but the .45 ACP has an extended case that's crimped down with a wad inserted to strengthen the nose. Looks like the .45 would more reliably feed than the plastic nosed cartridges.

I have yet to find a shotshell that cycle correctly in a 9mm. I have used these CCI shotshells http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/64455-5.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; in both a Glock 21 and XD 45s and they cycle fine. If anyone knows of a 9mm that will cycle I would like to know about them too.

Rather than waste time on finding a round that works, why not just buy a revolver in the caliber that works well? Come on, you are a man aren't you. And a man can always use another gun. Right? Isn't that why they have gun shows. So we can be with people like us.

I would always have cycling problems in all my semi autos. .45acp worked best out of my 9mm, .40S&W and .45acp. I don't bother with them if I go out hunting or backpacking. I bring my snub nose S&W .38 and they fire every time. A buddy has the 45LC and they work even better for large rattlesnakes but the .38 special will kill one as far out as 7 yards with 2 shots. Within 10 feet the rattlers are pretty much dead with one shot to the head but sometimes the body still wiggles but the snake stops moving. Some hunters shoot them whenever they see them but I have only shot 3 and all were in my direct path and I came upon them without notice. On a side note I never heard a rattle before I saw them. That is a myth that they always rattle before they strike.

I bought the 9mm and .45 cci snakeshot, put the first round as snakeshot, followed by hollowpoints, then I just decided my .357/.38 (Stainless Taurus) snubbie revolver will get the snakeshot and my semiauto gets the hollowpoints. Used Revolvers are fairly cheap snake guns. And I don't want to compromise a gun I might need for self defense against 2-legged snakes just to have a round for the legless ones.

I use the CCI snakeshot in my Glock 30, I have shot about 30 rounds through it with no problems. I use them to shoot squirrels at very close range, 15 feet or less.

I am not a big fan of snakes. No, that is not true. I really hate them and they just seem to love me. Because no matter when I am in the woods, they seem to find me. That being said, when one (me) comes into contact with them, and in the heat of the fight, it is very difficult to hit one with a single shot bullet. Even at only around 10 feet. No I ain't gettin closer. Had a rattler strike at me once and all I had was my 30/06. Real hard to see through the scope at 10 feet. Even more difficult to hit a 6" diameter object looking down the side of the barrel. Come close though.
So, in my opinion, which isn't all that great, I would stay with a revolver and loads with brass casings. Had a 38 spl. once with alum casings. Not a good idea. The aluminum swells and stops the revolver from spinning to the next round. You better be able to run fast. Snakes can move pretty quick.

I shoot field mice with them out of a PT92 and it cycles fine. CCI shells.
