She has to walk across the parking lot at night after her classes at TCC.
I don't ask and she doesn't tell. In my opinion sometimes a man (or woman) has to make a decision to disobey man’s law when the law is unjust. Not allowing a lawful citizen to have the means to protect themselves and/or others is unjust. Also, my bible teaches “render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s and unto God what is God’s”. God gave my Granddaughter life – not the local government and she shouldn’t have to “render” her life or limb to a scumbag that try’s to harm her. But that just me – I don’t expect others to agree with me on the sanctity of life and the right for a person to defend themselves. We each have to make our own decisions and then live with the consequences. Semper Fi

Wow. And here I thought I was the only one.
The only gun I have a laser on is my Ruger LCP.
It is fun to shoot with the laser but as you mentioned, I am much better using the the sites.
What I did was site the laser in just below perfect. When I use the sites, I cant see the dot so it doesnt distract and I cant rely on it.
But, I kept the laser on there for times when I might not be able to use the sites.
Just my 2 cents.

I have a CT on the one I carry and I wouldn't have it any other way. Like a lot of people in their late 50s my eyes don't focus on sights and targets at the same time as well as they used to. Laser has been the solution. If you can learn to hit the target with sights you can learn to do it with a laser. Saying you would never need to use the gun in low light is not much different than saying you won't need your gun tonight. Everyone doesn't have the same opinion. I'm keepin the laser.

Re: Handgun equipment/technique questions from Newbie
Never tried a laser sight and from what I've read in these posts it seems that the dot chasing I suspected I'd do is what some others experience. In spite of having 60 year old eyes, as of tomorrow, when I shoot off hand I still do much better using iron sights than a scope or red dot sight. All the jiggling which I can see through a scope just messes up my breathing and trigger control. (Either rifle or handgun and yes I know, I need more practice, and to get rid of my old age tremors. It is a different matter when shooting from a braced position or a rest.)
I often practice point shooting for low light and night situations. I can keep almost all my shots in a paper plate up to 5 yards from any position with either hand, even while moving, and just think it is a bunch faster trying to find a red dot. But heck, I don't use sights on my bow either so what do I know.

Hadn't thought of that advantage. Thanks. Obviously, I haven't had any special training. If you are in your home and are standing behind the door frame (concealment) with just your gun hand and enough of your head to allow one eye to see the target with the laser dot on center mass, you will not be exposing a large portion of your body for the bad guy to shoot at ....

When I'm bored, I unload my LCP and practice "shooting" with the CT laser while holding it from various positions. I'm slowly developing a muscle memory as well as spatial awareness by doing this, so in the off chance I don't have time to line up the sights, or find the red dot, or whatever, I can still aim pretty well from my hip, above my head, etc.
