OC at home with visitors?

i have to go back with what was asked previously. what makes y'all want to OC in your house. I would think that just not wearing my over shirt at home would suffice. it only seems like too much trouble to have a designated OC holster for the house and changing it, etc. i'm not against it, i just hadn't thought of doing it before.

I would agree with you that changing holsters for designated home OC is a little bit too much of a hassle. However, to each their own. I do not do that. I, like you, just remove my cover garment and do not change holsters.

thats what i would think. i'm not disagreeing with anyone that does it, i'm just interested to hear more on it.

Normally, I wear either a dress shirt or golf shirt over a white t-shirt to work everyday. Handgun is holstered IWB, right hip.

Well, when I get home from work, I take my dress shirt off, but simply wear the white t-shirt around the house. The handgun is still holstered IWB with the grip & rear of the slide openly carried above the belt line.

I don't switch holsters or do anything to make it complicated, I just get comfortable. Having moved to Texas from an open carry state, I am comfortable with open carry.

My wife & kids are used to it. If the kids have friends over, I am sure they realize I am armed. I don't sweat it.

Its usually just a under shirt on, in the house I am in wife beater 99% of the time. If I went OWB that day then no cover shirt, if IWB I don't change holsters when I get home. I just don't try and hide/cover it.

I wear vests, sport coats, etc to conceal my OWB when in public. When I get home, I just remove those to be comfortable. My aim is not to open carry at home, but to be comfortable...though it does then become open carry. Friends/neighbors come over and not like it...sorry, my property. Fact is, I don't know that I have anti-gun friends. Exception being if children come over I then cover, as I don't want them asking if they can touch it/hold it, etc.

BTW, TAMU, you don't have to have a CHL to carry on your property. If you're not already doing it, it is a good way to get in practice for when you do.

well i live in a fourplex apartment right now, so i don't really have designated property. i have a back yard, but thats about it.

It is good that there is the open carry for the visitors that attracts the visitor to your home and also it is good for the accessories and change the look of your home and such kind of home accessories use more and more today.

I do change holsters at home, IF I'm wearing the 1911. Most of the time at home I just stick the .357 in the pocket and go on with life so its not an issue.

My IWB holster for the 1911 is good, but I have a leather OWB holster that is much more comfortable for sitting down a lot. If I feel like carrying the 1911 around the house, its simply more comfortable to lounge on the couch with the OWB holster.

Oh, for heaven's sakes, if you're having guests and they're going to be uncomfortable with it, just put the gun away (e.g. in a nearby drawer) for the evening. Stop making such a big deal about it.
