What does everyone think of Kahrs

I put 250 rds. through a friend of mines (P9) recently. It was flawless.
Very accurate for such a small pistol. I didn't like it with the short magazine, but with the extended mag. you can get a full grip on it.
I shot it weak hand, strong hand, both hands, slow fire, controlled pairs, double taps, 7 rds. rapid fire.....had no problems. If they are all as good as this one was, then I can honestly say I am impressed with them (P9).
The price is rather steep for a "poly", and if one were to send it off for a little "tuning"....it could quickly become an $800.00 investment, but it might be just the ticket for someone looking for a small weapon.

I've got two K-40's, and they are great.
I bought a PM-9 in 2002 and it never fed reliably. Kahr denied the problem for the first year, decided to try a different profile on the customer's barrel (sent barrel back to Kahr), and then the next year did a full recall on PM-9 barrels. Since then, I've had no problems.
On to the P45........
Had failure to eject and slide lock problems. Kahr sent me some parts to try. Greatly improved the situation but didn't cure it.
Kahr wanted the pistol back. Came back from them worse than before.
They offered to replace the pistol. Six weeks later, I had a new P45. They upgraded me to night sites and the new black diamond finish at n/c.
The new gun still has one problem that keeps me from carrying it.
The last round sometimes has the case rim jammed down into the top of the magazine. It's a real bear to clear. I ran 200 rounds thru the gun but was using fully loaded mags. Once I identified that the problem can only occur on the last round, I intended to return to the range for another session. I haven't done that.
It is my intention to fire 200 rounds only loading 1 round per mag. This should give me, and Kahr, an incident rate.
They are taking the problem seriously and seem interested in my results.
I personally think they need about two years to get a new model running right, especially the compact polymers.

I have a P45 for which Kahr did the same thing (except the night sights - I don't like them). The difference is that, now, my P45 has no problems in the reliability department.Mike1951 wrote:

Though Kahr does seem to stand behind their guns, it still sounds like Kahr is using it's customers as "beta-testers" when they introduce a new model.
Personally, despite the nice basic designs of Kahr pistols, I don't need the hassle . . . my own Kahr experience made me impose a new rule - disregard gun rag reviews, and don't buy a NEW model until there are four or five years worth of user reviews posted on forums like this.

No problems on my PM9 ....ran about 800 rounds through and only two FTFs both on manual cocking...no problems on either mag (normal & extended) ....I just make sure and load via slide release.
Using a nylon iwb/owb from the Town East show....anyone got a better iwb/owb leather holster idea. Love Galco...but didn't see it on their site...Don Hume?? Ideas

I just got a call from Kahr (at 2/8/07 10:40AM, caller ID showed SAEILO 5086351440).
This call is from Dotti informing me that a previously promised prepaid shipping label (from Randy at Kahr) will not be honored because the pistol is not brand new, right after purchase! Personally, I have no problems with this because the issue here involves just a slide and barrel (i.e. not expensive or difficult to ship), but I'm amazed that they'll call back and change such a trivial arrangement (at my time and money expense of course, well not really my time/expense but long story).
This is very different than the Kahr I dealt with years ago. I think anybody who's considering a Kahr pistol should know that, from what Dotti told me on the phone, only new pistols gets free shipping back to Kahr.
Dotti was friendly, but I'll have to take Kahr's customer service quality and satisfaction level down a bit.

A couple months ago I ordered 2 Hume holsters: D.A.H. small-of-back, and an IWB. Both are well made, unlined leather. The SOB model hasn't worked out to my liking, but it is workable as a cross draw. The IWB works great. Prices from http://www.reddiamondonline.com were D.A.H.=$42 amd IWB=$22. Deliver time was beyond 2 months.

I had bad experience with PM-9 but great customer srv
I have posted on several sites and got flamed by the folks who take personal offense to stuff, but since you asked.....
I bought a brand new PM-9 and I did the break in, meticulous cleaning, running sloppy wet with all kinds of high quality lubes, I ran all types of high quality ammo thru it. FTF, FTB, FTE, just failure after failure. Sent it back to Kahr and told them to keep it as long as necesary and to try it out prior to sending it back. They did their parts swap and fluffing and buffing and it had the same failures on the 1st magazine. I used different Kahr factory mags, I shot approximately 1,500 rounds thru it. I gave up and Ms. Dottie at Kahr gave me a full refund.
Ms. Dottie and the customer service at Kahr is absolutely fantastic.
I loved the size and the way the PM-9 shot, but the brand new one I had was totally unreliable and after the factory took it to service it for these known chronic issues, and it was still unreliable I was done with it. Like I said I have nothing but sincere appreciation for Ms. Dottie and Kahr doing the right thing and giving me a full refund. They did the right thing by me and I have always said that.
I bought a Glock 26 and it eats anything I put in it and it works. I carry it everyday all day.
I am not anti Kahr at all, but after what I experienced I could not ever trust the PM-9 as my CCW that I carry for the sole purpose of protecting me and my family. I wish the PM-9 would have worked for me but it did not.
