ALERT .30-06 victim disarmed zone: Houston Hilton

I have noticed that many of the large Hilton hotels in Texas are posted. Those that have conference rooms or meeting facilities. I travel frequently for work, and changed my lodging preference from Hilton to Holiday Inn because of it.

When in Tx, I stay Hampton Inns. I cannot speak for the Hiltons or Embassy Suites in the Dallas area...as I live here. The Embassy Suites in Norman is not posted with a gun buster. Supposedly, all gun busters in Ok are binding.

I was in Dallas area about a month ago, at a Hampton Inn (Hilton Owned) and it was also properly posted

The Doubletree Guest Suites in Austin is posted as well. Doubletree is a Hilton property.
I need to send them a letter letting them know I can't stay there again.
I will send it to the local manager and to Hilton's management.
Its a shame, that is a nice hotel.
I too travel for business and its just as easy to stay at a Marriott as a Hilton property.

Add the Hilton in downtown Austin to the list of posted Hiltons.

The Hilton Anatole in downtown Dallas is properly posted as well.

At least it was 2 years ago.

I see we have two people here with Hilton Diamond status and another with "a lot of nights". Even if you do not stay at the ones in Houston, I'd appreciate it if you complained in writing via email because good customers get listened too.

Although I have a Hilton HHonors membership, I've only stayed in an HHonors place for 7 or 8 nights in the last year. If this discussion was about Wyndham -- where I have about 180 nights in the last year -- you can bet that I'd be making my voice known there.

Writing to corporate won't do much good. Most of those hotels are run as franchises. Hilton has little to no influence on whether a particular management group decides to post their property.

I was a Diamond member for about 15 years. Hilton was my preferred hotel chain (mostly Hampton Inn) and I averaged somewhere between 200 and 300 nights per year in their properties.

I am sure you can have your weapon in your baggage but cannot carry it around in the hotel.

Anyhow, I stay at the Hilton Hobby and have not seen it posted. I am also a Hilton member and may have to write them if I see them posted.

I stayed at the Hilton in Downtown Austin this past week. I entered via the garage where there are no signs and did not see them till I was in the lobby. I went and put my gun back in the safe in my car. Later I asked why they were posted and was told that it is a corporate policy of Hilton International, it is not a franchise choice as others have said, it is corporate policy. Franchises have the choice not to post it. Anyway when discussing the issue with the manager, I was informed, according to him the building is actually owned by the city. I have not checked this, but that would make that posting unenforceable.

I just stayed at a Hampton Inn in Austin. Not posted at all. Hampton is part of Hilton.

The Pasadena Hilton (where I've been staying while in California) is not posted. The state took care of that for them. That's right.....the entire state is posted.

However, I'll be in Arizona in a few hours, and the first thing I'll do after crossing the state line is get strapped.

You mean, just like the "unenforceable" 30.06 signs at gun shows? You may be right......on a technicality.........but I'm not going to be the test case on that one. OTH, if you're sure you're right, concealed is concealed.

Oh I agree with you, I didnt carry there. I dont want to be the test case either. I was just passing along the info. I wont be staying there again.
