Tom and Bingo's in Lubbock.

Chopped Brisket, ham, sausage sandwiches. May have burgers now (but why?).

Lunch only.

Dry rub. The sauce is sorta sweet and ketchupy, but any sauce just gets in the way of some wonderful and subtle flavors.

whenever I walk through the door, Gary and Matt start hacking up some baby-back ribs. conditioned reflex :biggrinjester:

Thanks to all of this talk about BBQ...

I found myself 20 miles from Lockhart today and decided to make the trip to Smitty's Market. I was indeed NOT disappointed! I had their Prime rib and Sausage... just awesome!

Thank you for this thread!

Meshack's BBQ near downtown Garland. Walk up, order from the window, and cash only. Best BBQ I think I've had anywhere. Completely wood fired smoker using pecan.
I need to stop by there the next time I'm in Garland. Maybe I will go this Saturday and pick some up.

That picture brought back memories of the Whataburger in my hometown. You walked up and ordered. Two screened windows: first one with a sign "tell the grill man how many: next window: "tell the boardman how". Then pay at the last window. I don't remember them having FF only chips, but I'm old so that may be wrong. Sorry to hijack but that picture vibrated some rusty old synapses, axons and dendrites.

I've only got two years here, I know what you mean. So far what few places I have been to dump a bunch of sauce on top, I guess to try to add some flavor. I'm used to the food having flavor, not the toppings :???:

I always enjoyed Goode Co. when I lived in Houston. There was also a place down in the Sugarland area called Swinging Door or something like that. They pecan smoked their meat and it was excellent for a change from mesquite smoke.

My advice is never buy Q from anyplace that looks nice on the inside, and inside if you can see the smoker, it should have a thick black covering of animal product.

There was a good one in Ft. Worth, but it's been so long, I can't 'member.

Riverport BBQ in downtown Jefferson was real good the two times we went there. Especially compared to the Joes BBQ I get here in Alvin.

Sadly, Riverport burned to the ground a few days ago. Hopefully they can get it rebuilt soon.

Say it ain't so. I just discovered the place. We're gonna need some new recommendations for the area then. We live in Alvin but my mother-in-law has 125 acres in Arkansas just north of Ida La. That's where I go to spray lead and eat BBQ.
