What do YOU call it?

Growing up in Iowa, everything was pop. While probably not as big a seller as Coke, Pepsi was bigger in Iowa than it is in Texas.

My wife, Texas born, laughs when she used to read my hometown paper and the local grocery store offered a special of a hot dog and pop for $0.50!

She thinks everyone in Iowa talks funny. That is until she talks to the grandkids in Minnesota!

My grandpappy called it Coke, so I picked it up, my kids called me Pop, so that wouldn't do, and soda is something you put in your biscuits to make them rise.

I confuse the heck out of people when I ask for a soft drink.

I usually call it a "soft drink," unless I'm asking for something particular, like a Diet Coke (which I call... "Diet Coke"). Guess I'm weird!

IOne I recall hearing only from one person, I forget where ... was "COdrink"
After asking and him repeating several times I figured out he mean "cold drink"

Yeah, that is the found a lot in the green areas in North Carolina and southern Virginia I think. At least that's where I have heard it.

And when I visit my great aunts in NC, they always ask if I want smice (some ice) with it.

Actually, the correct form is "Yawnt smice inat codrink?"

And "Jeet yet? We're fixin ta."
