I went by Sharpstown Mall today and it appeared to be closed. There may be some stores that open outwards that are still there and open. The parking lot was essentially empty.

Is there a message here somewhere.

I recall going to the grand opening, the Gaylinn theater was so fancy everyone had to dress up to go to the movie, the pretty carpet had me in awe. (Of course these were the days people parked roadside by Hobby Airport to watch planes all afternoon for entertainment)

Yeah. I know, the whole area is different now.
I remember "Good TIme Charlie's" inside the mall in the 70's. I was a kid, and it was all sparkly and glitzy with different 'shows' on the stage.
By the time I was in high school in the 80's, it was on its way to turning into "Sharp-shooter" mall.
When I was 16 or 17, I was approached by a "Jamaican guy" so he claimed, to 'hold' $15,000 for him. He said he needed someone to hold it overnight while he was with a prostitute, so it would not be stolen. He said that he would pay me $500 to do so. He even showed me the cash.

I was only a teen, but knew that it was obviously some sort of scam, but was so intrigued, I tried to figure out what the scam was. He kept trying to get me to leave the mall with him, but I of course wouldn't. I stayed in the food court talking to him, and a long-story short, he gave up on me and left.

It took me a year or so to learn what the scam was. I told multiple people what happened, but nobody could explain it. Then it happened to a buddy of mine, also at Sharpstown. Since he had heard my story, he called the police right away. They informed him of the scam.
The scammer earns your trust, then convinces you to put the money in your bank account, where he comes and withdraws everything... your money and his.

If I'm ever going some place where things are so bad I think I may actually need my gun....I'm going somewhere else. I don't look for opportunities to shoot other people and will never purposely place myself in a position where that situation is likely or may be likely.

Why anybody would willingly go to Gunspoint or Sharpstomb is beyond me.

sad part is I remember some malls/mall days like drive-in theaters ... and old indoor fancy theaters of old olden days
Still ... online shopping is so much faster and convenient

And as long as malls are posting 30.06 signs, I reckon they WANT me to shop online instead :tiphat:

The only reason I carrry is that there is a chance that I might need my gun, and I am never going to know where that place is going to be. I obviously avoid those places where the odds of confrontation seem higher...but it seems like a lot of bad things happen in everyday places.
