Holstered in car

First day with plastic, so I kept gun in holster instead of putting in console.
I wear IWB or OWB at 4oclk. But I found that with seat belt and arm rest, it would require great effort to draw if needed.
What do you do?

Different seats, body types, holsters, firearms, etc etc all come into play. So as a skinny guy who carries a compact pistol in a Kholster with some front cant, at 3:00, operating all sorts of vehicles sans arm rests ive never felt disadvantaged leaving it right where it is.

More guns needed. Hip gun, console gun, trunk AR + trunk shotgun in case doves or zombies attack. Then you always have a trigger in reach, just keep your finger off of it unless being chased by the Zombie Flash Mob (4 days to halloween).

This exact situation has plagued me for a while seeing as I usually carry at approximately 1:30 ... The scenario has played out In my head and each time reaching for my IWB or practicing it... it is clumsy and takes (for my liking) way too long... So, now what I do is use a secondary holster when I get in the truck. An Uncle Mikes L hand at 4-5 So the draw allows for what would appear to be a natural reach for the seatbelt (so as not to arouse suspicion and make someone "Jumpy") if someone was ordering me out of my vehicle or trying to get in the passenger side. It's a bit much but it works for me...

Hmmm. I found this Desantis Car Holster review doing a google search.

I guess you would hop in the car, remove the gun from your IWB or other holster and drop it in this thing for carrying while driving. That looks pretty handy. $53.00 from the Desantis website.

It should be fine under MPA provided it's not "in plain view" but that may vary by vehicle.

Yeah, for the position I like the one on the seat better, but that does look very uncomfortable. I don't like the one under the steering wheel as much because I think the grip angle is a little awkward.

That being said, I'm not sure either of these would be legal in Texas because they're too visible. IMHO

If that would be as easy to draw as it looks, I would like that feature.

My only issue is that it is permanently mounted to the steering column where car thieves peering in the car will see the holster in plain view.

I don't leave anything in plain view in my car that makes it a potential break-in target.

There are similar holsters that will mount on a center console, or the front of the seat like the above DeSantis. One advantage they have is the simplicity of draping a towel over the holster when you leave the car, keeping it out of sight.

My favorite approach for anyone whose center console is large enough would be this holster from Crossbreed:

...either of the two above styles would be accessible...but both are in plain view to someone outside the car and thus not MPA- compliant...maybe velcro strips on a towel would drape over either and could be ripped off if necessary...like the one on the column better for reaching it quickly...a black piece of towel velcroed on all borders would reduce it to a lump under a towel...and make it TX legal...

This is the same process I've implemented. Since I'm new to carrying, It was too awkward to draw from the body holster.

I know that it probably will sound cheesy but I here is what I did to conceal in my Hyundai Elantra console. (Which is pretty small)
The height of the console would fit my Taurus 1911 perfectly with the lid closed as long as the barrel was nearly (and I mean nearly) to the bottom.
I placed a piece of foam from my gun case in the bottom of the console. I then attached a holster from Cabelas for an AirSoft pistol to the side of the console using several pieces of 3M tape. It holds beautifully and the 1911 fits perfectly. The holster cost me $10 and the tape about $3.
