You know, if a black man was arrested but not convicted, and cops used that against him, Al Sharpton would be screaming bloody murder. Strange how that becomes acceptable if a white guy is arrested but not convicted.

I think the crying for him to be arrested is stupid. If the cops get enough evidence to charge him, they will arrest him for sure. Arresting him now doesn't change anything.

Here is an Article demonizing the shooter:

Another here with baby photos of the dead person all over the site:

Sounds like a cop wannabe. He probably owns a CHL badge as well.

I think this guy will end up being charged if this is true:
Zimmerman had called police to report that he found Martin “suspicious” and was following him in his SUV. Despite the advice of a dispatcher not to engage the youth and to wait for police to arrive, Zimmerman got out of his car and confronted Martin.
A fight ensued, according to reports about neighbors who began calling 911 to report it.

Unless this kid was committing some sort of crime, he had no reason to get out of is vehicle to confront him. I’m sure by now somebody would have come forward saying he was breaking into a car or home, or damaged their property in defense of this guy. Either way, it seems hard to claim self defense when you got out of your SUV to confront someone who was “suspicious” after being told by 911 not to engage them. Hard to claim SD when you instigated the situation that caused you to get a but whippin...

Guess time will tell,

I would agree with you that there may be more to the story then just Skittles and a can of iced tea in his pocket, but as a private citizen (not LEO such as yourself) this guy did the right thing by reporting the “suspicious activity” while in his SUV. Unless this kid was committing a felony he should have just followed him home and reported to the police what he saw or thought he saw. Neighborhood watch is just that. They have no authority to detain me or anyone else unless an act is being committed that warrants immediate attention. The funny thing is that several neighbors reported the fight, but fail to disclose the cause or any serious damage done by this individual. I’m sure the truth will lie somewhere in the middle…

There is not enough known from either side to make a determination on this at the present time. The Neighborhood Watch Captain made a big mistake in exiting his vehicle and confronting the guy. Should have just followed along. Anytime you confront someone like that you run a high risk of escalating the situation. What happened after they got into the argument and ensuing fight will more than likely come to light with review of the neighbors calls to 911 and their testimony on what happened. Until then, we can only guess as no one on here knows, what Paul Harvey used to say is, 'the rest of the story'.

I read somewhere that the shooter had a 100lb advantage on the victim. The facts we know are Mr. Zimmerman confronted the kid with a weapon on his person. Gets into a scuffle with the unarmed kid who at one point was on the ground as was the shooter. Mr. Zimmerman nose bloodied and bleeding from the back of his head gets his gun out and shoots the kid. No one will be coming forth to tell the victim's side of the story. who knows what really happened. I try to keep an open mind but I'm very troubled by a claim of self defense from someone who started a fight and finished it with a bullet. Just saying.

how do we know that the shooter started the fight? isn't possible the the dead person, noticed that someone is following him in his SUV and initiated the contact with a person in SUV, may be verbally and physically assulted the person in the SUV and the person in the SUV had exit his vehicle and protect himself? We are all making hearsay.

Mr. Zimmerman exited his vehicle against the orders police gave him and confronted Trayvon Martin and a fight ensued according to neighbors. I will cede the point on who started the fight, but this was instigated by the shooter.

BTW, Saying Hello, Can I help you? Or, do you live in the neighborhood is no crime that I am aware of. Initiating a friendly contact is no crime.
