M&P compact 9mm

My wife has shot our compact quite a bit and I don't recall her having a problem with the slide but I just asked her and she thought she did. She has no problem racking the SR40, so I'm doubting her recall. Somebody taught her to actively use both hands/arms when racking (hands close to body - one hand pushing on slide, the other pushing on the frame) and that was an extremely effective tip.

What she doesn't like about the M&P is the trigger, but not because of the 'feel'. Her finger seems to wind up on the lower part of the trigger and it gets pinched between the end of the trigger and the guard. I have no such problem, so I need to work with her on finger placement.

Gollie, I shot Fenster's M&P9C and LLLLOOOOVVVEEEDDD it. I shot that thing 3x better than my baby glock, and to be honest--it felt more comfy and natural in my hands. For down-in-the-dirt-beater-absolutely-gonna-need-it-to-work-everytime-gun I'll stick with my Glocks. For something reliable, comfortable, and accurate I will take an M&P Compact. There is also something to be said for the cosmetic appeal of the M&P.

I also enjoyed the sights on it. I don't remember exactly what i like about them specifically, but I distinctly remember drilling holes with the thing on steel targets. Of course that can be marked up to it's natural aiming characteristics since you aren't "aiming" when shooting steels at a rapid pace.

If I had the money to buy one, I definitely WOULD.

WGoforth - One of the reasons I chose the M&P was the ease I had in running the slide. My 14 year old runs it fine as well. She did have trouble at first, but she was trying to "pinch and pull". Once she learned to scissor her arms, she runs it fine. I don't know if it is me or the gun getting broken in, but the more I run it, the easier it runs. Have 1500 - 2000 rounds through it jmpho

Thanks..yes, we do and teach the push/pull rather than straight pull back as well. Most of us guys pull it off ok, but even then if our arms/hands were injured, learning to do it the "proper" way could make a difference in pulling it off or not.

A couple of weeks ago I bought the full size land p 9mm and I love it. I did get the pro series which comes with night sites and a better trigger. I am not sure if you can get the pro series in the compact, it might be something you want to check in to. I have no trouble concealing the full size,for me it is the length of the grip more than the barrel that makes a gun harder to conceal. The trigger is awesome but I have never shot a regular m and p so I can't speculate on the difference.

I have been wanting an M&P for awhile now. I love the grip and it's natural point of aim. I do want to get a 5 inch barrel as well as a compact.

Reasonably easy self-install with good YouTube How-To videos direct from the manufacturer. Definitely improves the gritty, stiff factory trigger action.

Even with knowing how to properly rack, there are many handguns my wife has problems manipulating the slide (and she teaches ladies the proper way to do it in class). Is the slide easy for your wife to rack?

I have two M&P 40s and the wife has an M&P9 JG all three are full size I carry one or both without a problem. I don't care for the compact versions of any of the guns that make them I have LARGE hands and some of the small semis I can get only one finger around the grip. I love my M&Ps and wouldn't trade them for anything that is on the marked currently.

I switch between my M&P 9c and my M&P 9 FS. Love them both. One of my daughters prefers the 9c while the other prefers the Full Size. All 3 of us prefer the M&P's over the Glock. My daughter who has the 9 FS her husband carries a Glock 19.

The M&P 9c is very accurate and concealable.

Shoots like my 3rd gen S&W, love it. No failures, other them empty cases I sometimes add so I can do failure drills. Even feeds them better than half the time. Love the way the sound echo'd in your. video. Sounded like a spring-air pellet gun badly in need of a main spring lube!

I've used the M&P 9 Compact for the past few years as one of our "workhorse" training/rentals guns. Overall, very pleased with it's performance in that role. Only recently, did we experience a few misfires, but that I believe was more of an ammo problem than a striker problem.

Just this past Thursday, one of our Freedom Plan members called my cell phone to admit that he had just had a "negligent discharge" with his M&P. Yes, he did use the word "negligent" discharge and explained that he had just transitioned from shooting his XD to the M&P and there was enough of a difference in the trigger reset that he had a brain fart and put a .45 round into the perforated metal and insulation below the (bulletproofed) ceiling just a few feet downrange from our shoting stall #2.

One of my recent lady students liked the M&P better than anything she shot at DCSA and plans to buy one shortly. In checking availability and pricing for her at the Lewisville gun show today, there were only 4 of them available. Prices there were $460, $490 and one dealer who had 2 in stock and asking $546. She had planned to be there at 10:00 a.m. but her dog got snakebit early this morning and it sounded like she was dropping some even bigger $ at the Emergency Cinic instead.

Thanks... along with other guns, these seem in short supply. I felt fortunate to find it online for $475... +$30 shipping and $25 transfer. Local dealers couldn't order any from the warehouses.
