Houston Family Dollar Robbery

According to the news reports, the robbers and a CHL holder got into a gun fight and a worker at the store was killed.



HOUSTON – Police were looking for two suspects Friday after a Family Dollar clerk was shot during a robbery Thursday night.

The victim, a woman in her 20s, died at the scene.

Police said the masked suspects entered the store at Bellfort and Bullfinch around 10 p.m. Investigators believe they waited until closing time to make their move.

As the suspects approached the clerk and demanded money, one of two customers in the store tried to leave, but realized the suspects had locked the door.

Then, another customer, who was armed and had a concealed handgun license, pulled out his weapon and exchanged gunfire with the suspects.

The clerk was fatally shot during that exchange. Police have not yet determined whose bullet killed her.

Man I hate that clerk died. I really hope it was not the CHL holders bullet. Robbing a family dollar cannot be that rewarding.... not that any amount is worth human life.

I sincerely hope the CHL holder is not directly responsible for the death of the clerk but it sure opens the door to many questions about his/her indirect responsibility. Unless someone was immediately in danger, I can't imagine engaging armed robbers and provoking an exchange of gunfire. On the surface it appears that being a good witness would have been a better choice. Easy for me to say, I was not there. Preventing a theft is not worth the life lost. My heart goes out to those involved.

Well, the BGs locked the door. That's a pretty good indication that this wasn't going to be an in & out robbery. Frankly, I could imagine myself drawing in that situation.

It seems Family Dollar stores are on the BG's radar. There was another one not to long ago were a BG in a hoodie stuck the gun right at the temple of the clerk.

That photo was taken down very quickly as it was interfering with the "sweet hoodie image" that the press was trying to portray at the time.

Yeah locking the doors so you can't leave seems like a draw your weapon signal.

It is the locking of the doors that does it for me. Smash and grab is one thing, but like others have said before I am not dying in the back room from drano poisoning. This was not going to turn out well anyway it was sliced and I hold those criminals responsible for the life lost.

Well, Family Dollar draws a lower income clientele...like me. It don't draw me at 10:00 PM in Varmint Town.

That said, the security cameras may not have got good pictures BUT the witnesses can narrow the search profiles, I'll betcha'.

And if it is the CHL's bullet, I hope he can convincingly articulate why it was not done recklessly.

This is what I thought was law in TX. If a person has locked the doors and kept me from escaping somewhere they are robbing with guns I think that is all the explanation you need. I hope that it was not the CHL-ers bullet that killed her, but even if it was the CHLer was forced by the criminals to take lethal action against them. Like I said before I am not dying in the back from being beaten to death by a hammer or poisoned to death by drano. If they locked the doors this was not smash and grab, they had something much much worse planned. Four rules, certainly, but things happen fast even if it is the CHLers bullet I would not fault them with anything but adrenaline and nerves.

I should have copied the photo when it was posted. It was really pretty powerful. I didn't realize newspapers later edit their stories. I searched Google for the photo but could not find it.

I wonder why the security footage has not made it to the news yet. Don't worry if it is the CHL's bullet we will see it soon.
