According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Association, almost 5,500 were killed in accidents caused by distracted driving in 2009. So far, the National Highway Traffic Safety Association does not have a specific category that identifies accidents caused by drivers distracted by pets; however, the statistic is housed in categories like distracted passengers.
I wasn't wearing any, so I put some rose colored glasses on and had a thought...

Since there are so so many more people killed in auto accidents when being distracted, maybe we could take some of those TSA folks from air travel (where there is no where near the number of deaths) and have them do driving checkpoints to make sure your pets are properly secured in your vehicle. It is better to be safe and who better to make that happen than the government folks that always have the people's best interest at heart...

Nope - these rose colored glasses are putting scary lib thoughts in my head :ack:

Doesn't the constitution say that Congress shall make no law infringing on the rights of dogs to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness and a side of snausage? :headscratch

I always amuses me to see a post go sideways from the original subject. I posted about a law passed to protect dogs and it has digressed to quoting questionable data about distracted drivers and the causes. No where in the law that I read did it mentioned drivers being distracted. Statistics in my viewpoint are mostly worthless anyway, since I can prove that eating pickles is statistically fatal. i.e. 100% of Civil War veterans that ate pickles have died. Probably goes for WWI vets as well and there's no telling how many drivers killed in car wrecks ate pickles prior to their demise.
LEO's have more than enough to do already without having to be on the lookout for unrestrained pets in vehicles. It will go unenforced for the most part, which, in my book makes it idiotic.

I love to pay taxes so they can sit in a doughnut shop or 7-11 drinking coffee... when I drove a truck it didn't matter what was in the back, it was paying freight...no different than a cop...They get paid to do a job no matter how menial… sorry not all jobs are glamorous and full of flash but at 28.00+ an hour we need something for our money

"rlol" "rlol" "rlol" There are plenty of them in here in Texas........ For instance it's illegal to have a sign that says "Ice Cold Beer". How often do you think that one is enforced. "rlol" Uh! Oh! I hijacked my own thread.
