Y'all are so great! I am done crying and being disappointed in myself. I am going to try switching revolvers and try to get in next week to retake the test. I guess I should have been practicing more with the revolver then the glock that I was worried about.

What you really need is to practice with your revolver while someone stands behind you and yells at you, and calls you names.
That will fix it.
That will fix it.

Right! They were so great there. The turning target really threw me but I am only going to blame myself for that failure. I loved the class and I was so stressed about that shooting portion and I think I psyched myself out.

I have to ask, did you shoot single, or double action?
When I took the test, they "suggested" that the revolvers be shot double action, but it wasn't a requirement. And there is enough time allowed to shoot single action (no matter what they say), and be more accurate.

I shot double action mostly because I cannot cock that revolver. I am going to throw the snub nosed Chiappa Rhino in the Trash and go for a longer gun. Anybody wanna buy a Rhino?sjfcontrol wrote:I have to ask, did you shoot single, or double action?

Oh, man! You didn't fail the test, your gun failed you. Borrow a revolver with the longest barrel you can find. That alone will likely fix the problem!mommagamber wrote:I shot double action mostly because I cannot cock that revolver. Hubby has this revolver http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mateba_Autorevolver" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; which is an easy shot in single action. We weren't sure it would qualify since it is a Semi-auto revolver. I have an email into Sgt Bamsch to see I could use it.

That's a new one for me! Wouldn't mind putting some rounds through that myself!
Let us know if they allow it.
Do they have a "full auto" version?

Right! There are only 1600 of them in the country and hubby has 6 and 8 inch barrel for it. It is worth a pretty penny. May have to pay for our retirement. It is so funny when hubby starts to explain how it works to people they look at him like he is crazy.sjfcontrol wrote:That's a new one for me! Wouldn't mind putting some rounds through that myself!

That would be nice. My hang up on it is that in double action it has such a hard trigger pull. Gonna try to practice with cocking and shooting in my allotted time.

Re: Anybody else in the June 18-22 class?
Really? I'm surprised! Why would it need a heavy pull if the recoil cocked the hammer and turned the cylinder? If you're going to have a heavy pull, you might as well go double action.mommagamber wrote:That would be nice. My hang up on it is that in double action it has such a hard trigger pull. Re: Anybody else in the June 18-22 class?
In single action it is a very light trigger pull it is double action that is the hard pull. Once you've shot that first round in double then the recoil takes over. SO every time I had to reload then the first shot would have to be double action or cock then single action.sjfcontrol wrote:Really? I'm surprised!
