Mommagamber, that was the revolver I was talking about (in the PM) with the tricked-out trigger!Crossfire wrote:[

Really, I wish you were closer to DFW. I have a Ruger GP100 that has been to more instructor schools than I have, and no one has ever failed to qualify with it. It has a great trigger, and is well balanced. This is what you need to be looking for. Something tried and true and easy on the hands.
Good luck to you! You can do it.

Now, dryfire at least 200 times in DA. Then pull the side plate and lubricate the trigger mechanism, re assemble and dry fire another 200 times. Take to range and practice, practice, practice - - - don't forget to practice with your semi auto also.

Do you need to retake both parts of the test, or only the revolver?

Marty doesn't work on Rugers for other people. Just Glocks. And it's not like that gun needed a lot of help, anyways. Just a little smoothing out. Her's will probably be just fine, right out of the box.sjfcontrol wrote:Congratulations on your new acquisition! Now you need to get it to Marty for a trigger-job!

Re: Anybody else in the June 18-22 class?
Thanks! Went out to shoot it tonight and I cannot believe what an easy trigger pull it has. Also borrowed an older S&W and it is a very smooth trigger pull. Going to shoot all week and wait to see when I can get back over to shoot and pass that test.Crossfire wrote:Marty doesn't work on Rugers for other people. Just Glocks. You will do great! You have determination and a great attitude so know you will overcome this little bump in the road. Before you know it, you will look back and smile knowing your efforts paid off.

Re: Anybody else in the June 18-22 class?
Went out with the new Ruger and the borrowed S&W and ran 50 rounds through each one at 15 yrds to see which one I do better with. The Ruger won by 41 points. The Sights on the S&W need to be adjusted.

Re: Anybody else in the June 18-22 class?
When I'm practicing for quals, I shoot 50 rounds at 15 yards, too. I figure if I can pass (90%) with all rounds at 15 yards, the actual test should be a slam dunk. After all, the rounds at 3 and 7 yards (in the actual test) should all be 5-pointers.mommagamber wrote:Went out with the new Ruger and the borrowed S&W and ran 50 rounds through each one at 15 yrds to see which one I do better with. Good strategy. There's so much time there should be no dropped points at 3 and 7 if you concentrate and don't rush it.sjfcontrol wrote:When I'm practicing for quals, I shoot 50 rounds at 15 yards, too.
