It occurs to me that perhaps the non-behavior tax you should worry about is a tax on not sending your children to public schools. Granted, you pay school taxes, but the school has to forgo Federal matching funds without your children in attendance. Is that fair? --you're taking money right out of the school's pocket (using liberal logic here...the same kind that seems to hold that the government isn't taking your property when it withholds your tax refund).
Yeah I do worry about th some.

One thing liberals don't seem to understand is that once they've penalized responsibility and good decisions enough a lot of people are going to come to the conclusion that bad decisions and irresponsibility make more sense.
Can't be repeated enough. When you reward negative behavior (not working, having kids you can't afford, etc) you promote more negative behavior.

My first job out of college I earned $10 an hour (before taxes) building/delivering/moving office furniture. One of the men I worked with told me that he had friends on "assistance" that got a bigger check than he or I did at the end of every month.

The only reason he was working (for less than he could have had on welfare/whatever else) was his moral compass wouldn't allow him to collect when he was capable of work.

If only there were more like him our financial house might be in better order.

The Mad Moderate wrote:I for the most part support the ACA, I do not like the mandate but see it as necessary given the mandates put on the insurance companies. I think that in the near term rates will go up in the long term I think the costs will go down and be even more affordable. I think in 70 years the ACA will be looked at in the same way the Social Security Act is viewed now. This is not the death of freedom.
Ok. How?

There are several ways that costs can go down.
1. Greater efficiency. What in the ACA provides for any greater efficiency in any part of healthcare? There is page after page in the ACA of "and the secretary (HHS) will write regulations" Sorry, the last time I looked, greater regulation is the antithesis of efficiency.
2. Greater personal responsibility. Our insurance has very steep co-payments. A single surgery this year cost us $4,350 for just the hospital stay (3 days). When people have to share in the medical costs, there is a greater need to examine the healthcare that they are using. Please show me any place in ACA where personal responsibility will increase.
3. Lowering costs for providers. If you talk to medical professionals, they will explain how their costs continue to skyrocket. Mal-practice insurance is a big factor. The increased regulations that are already in place, outside of ACA are also driving up the costs. The new reporting in ACA alone is going to further raise their cost of just trying to stay in business
4. Using greater volume to spread the costs. While it might seem like there is a great opportunity here, with potentially 20-30 million "new" patients, the arrangements made with big Pharma to get ACA have assured that there will be no savings in medicines. In fact, the shortages that are already occurring in critical medications will have the opposite effect. Medical device makers have new taxes which is going to drive up costs for things like my wife's artificial knee. A greater volume of knee surgeries is not going to overcome that.

So, exactly where, over time, are savings going to come from? They will come....from rationing care. Please look at what is happening to the military healthcare and tell me how that is NOT going to happen under ACA.

I'm sorry but when you go through the flow chart and come to the block that says "and here a miracle occurs", you are not dealing in reality. The block is also in the flowchart to allow normal citizens to carry concealed handguns in NY. You cannot get there from here.

There isn't enough disk space for this forum to explain exactly how correct you are about comparing ACA and Social Security. It is not at all what you believe.

That's it in a nutshell. The democrats have perpetrated a total fraud on the rest of us. They've built a Rube Goldberg device in which critical components will not be designed until after the marble rolls down the first couple of chutes. It's not just irresponsible, it's just downright dishonest. They lie, and they cheat. That's what they do. They would know the right thing to do if it reared up and bit 'em on the butt. They disgust me.

Here is a play-by-play of when I learned of the ruling. Not exact quotes but close.

9:07 AM (scotus blog online updates) "6-3 decision, Act upheld!"
9:08 AM (fox news online) "OBAMACARE UNCONSTITUTIONAL"
9:09 AM (CNN online) "Court strikes down healthcare law"

(few minutes of head scratching and lawyers at the office going...what the..

9:12 (fox) hit refresh on the page "OBAMACARE UPHELD"
9:12 (CNN) hit refresh and "Act largely upheld 5-4"
9:14 (scotus blog online) "Correction, act upheld 5-4, with Roberts joining the left."

I resent the fact that the Govt just made it my responsibility. Want to know what the REAL problem facing millions of Americans is? An oppressive government that has overstepped it's boundaries and is intruding on our liberty to live life as we see fit.
Very well said, and add ... people who rely on government to resolve their issues.

I chose not to have kids, yet I'm now supporting everyone else's AGAIN. This is my reward for never taking welfare and working hard all my life?

Consider the NDAA and the way this "chief" does everything shrouded in mystery, going even so far as to making executive orders for a political ploy and not being held responsible, or even questioned?? The apathy is disgusting. This is just one more step towards it. MKULTRA anyone? I'm no conspiracy theorist, but if it looks like a duck... and this is just the beginning.

Our forefathers would have been shooting by now. The jews got on the train. Will we do the same?

Maybe this country is beginning to find it's moral compass! For those of you that are upset by this I suggest you consider that we are not Human Beings having a Spiritual experience but that we are Spiritual beings having a Human experience...
I'm just going to flat out call shenanigans on your posting. You are trolling, and nothing more. That "think of the children" stuff you're spouting is bunk and you know it. Now, go back to wherever your little friends are and tell them how cool you are for spinning up folks on a gun forum...
