She has already been named in at least one suit, but no one that I've heard talk about it on television thinks she will be held liable.

Well, obviously precious little Mr. Holmes will soon be taking heavy doses of prescription meds and doing "art hour" and working on improving his inner self, all at taxpayer expense...meanwhile, several folks are gone from this earth before their natural end would have taken them, and many family's lives are shattered...and WE, the law-abiding gun owners, have to put up with yet another round of collectivists, statists, and hoplophobes trying to infringe on our rights...THIS is why I'm not a very good Christian, unfortunately, because SOMEBODY is at fault for this and I REALLY want them to get what's coming to them...and I tend to hold the man responsible as the one who pulled the trigger!

Maybe there was not an appropriate moment or situation for those that wanted to - to do so. I will not disparage anyone in that horrible event, but allow me to point out some heroes.

I wonder if the married guy who died protecting his girlfriend had good life insurance for his wife and their two kids.

People earn the Medal of Honor for such courage and self-sacrifice in the military.

Can you give me a few examples? I'm familiar with many MOH stories where they closed with and destroyed the enemy at great risk to themself. I don't know any where they were honored for jumping on the person next to them as a human shield. There may be some but I don't know any.

It's not exactly jumping on the person to shield them, but should be good enough. I think this was the inspiration for that scene in Act of Valor.

How about jumping on a grenade to shield your team members from the blast. Same thing. Three of the four men awarded the MOH for actions in Iraq dove on a grenade to save their brothers.

You were then provided w/ multiple examples when the MOH was awarded for actions akin to a human shield. You then replied:

Would jumping on that grenade "stop" the grenade thrower? No, additional grenades could be thrown, it's an act that shields others from the immediate threat. ...and you could write volumes?

Virginia Tech, Aurora etc, some laid on top of people laying on the floor to shield them from bullets, that didn't do anything to stop the shooter shooting others

Some at VT tried to fight back against the shooter, they were unsuccessful, but tried to protect more than the one person the others covered, by stopping the threat.

Jumping on a grenade (assuming there's only one grenade, which it may or may not be) may not stop the grenade thrower, though it attempts to minimize shrapnel which can harm many people.... still doesn't stop the thrower.

Jumping on a person to shield them is less predictive of harm than jumping on a grenade though,

I have tiny kids right now, but lets fast forward a few years to the time when they can run. I have no problem jumping on top of a madman into certain death so they can get out. I would prefer to watch them marry and have children from this side of eternity, but if it is needful I will gladly do it from the other side. I imagine if two people grabbed him from his 6 oclock it would take him at least a few minutes to kill them and in that time your children might be able to escape.
