I did have one man who looked at my Ted Cruz sticker and told me, “I will never vote for him,” as he walked away, shaking his head in disgust. Like every one of the minority of Dewhurst supporters, not one would actually talk with us.
We experimented with offering each voter Republican stickers as they departed, or even just thanking them for voting, to get a handle on who these people were. We noticed that indeed Cruz supporters were far happier and positive and even the ones who came in with clenched jaws were just more determined in their anger. Dewhurst supporters and Democrats uniformly had unpleasantness written all over them.
Pretty good rant

My wife and I were leaving the polls this evening, having just voted, and I stopped to talk to a Cruz campaigner to see if she had heard any results yet. She was talking to a friend who was there working the democrat side for one of their candidates. I was wearing a tan NRA instructor's cap, which he noted and he started in on me about how I should be supporting Obama because I can carry a gun in the national parks, thanks to his signing that bill into law. I countered, "you know as well as I do that he signed that bill because it had a bunch of credit card stuff he wanted passed, and he wasn't going to get it without that rider, and if he'd had the choice, he'd have rather that not be in the bill." His answer was, "he didn't have to sign it, but he did." I said, "you're right. He didn't have to sign it, but you know as well as I do that he didn't sign it because he supports gun rights. He signed it because of the other things. He got outmaneuvered because he's an idiot. Sure, he could have refused to sign it, and then he'd have to deal with his base, and hades hath no fury like the liberal base denied." He started to rebut, and I just said, "Don't. Don't bother. Your guy is a scalawag. I will NEVER vote for him, or for any of your other candidates. I don't trust your party, the party of race-baiting, class warfare, the nanny state, and statist big government. I regard it all as treasonous."
He looked shocked that I would put it that way, but I was serious. I was not smiling or friendly about it. He left. I don't care if he was offended. He's the one who started in on me, not the other way around. I wasn't speaking to him. He interrupted a conversation I was having and started giving me the business. His party's lies, broken morality, fiscal incompetence, and all their other many sins offend me. People who vote that way, or try to urge others to vote that way deserve not one iota of my good will.

TAM, first of in no way do I support or will I vote for hitler- I mean Obama. Just remeber one thing. Regardless of what party they are from, if their mouth is moving a lie is coming out. All we can do anymore if vote for the lesser of two evils

Another point to be made is that we can carry ONLY in the National parks. The Dem gun haters keep us from carrying on Corps of Engineers property, a far larger obstacle just because of the sheer acreage. Don't you love it when they give us a few crumbs and tell us how happy we should be? You could also ask about the bills to insure National carry in places like NY, NJ, IL.
You did a great service for all of us, TAM. We need to confront these fabrication mongers wherever we can. My hat is off to you for doing it.
In each party there are the racists and the extremists. There are extremes on both sides. I hate for example the Islamophobic extremist on the GOP side. Islam is the religion of millions of US citizens. A fact of life and and a matter protected by 1A.

I generally respond to the fools with something along the lines: I dont respect what obama stands for, he doesnt represent me or the American way (and then in a shocked and accusatory tone) MY GAWD! ARE YOU A LIBERAL?! A SOCIALIST?! I then chuckle dismissively & whatever their reply is I keep quiet and just chuckle condescendingly It kills em.
I view liberals as I do any enemy of the U.S. I loathe them.

Or just say no to evil and vote third party.
Red pill? Blue pill? NEITHER!
Let's stay with your analogy. In Revolutions, how was Agent Smith defeated? Hint: it wasn't from the outside.

Maybe next time when we're not trying to get rid of a Socialist President I'll vote 3rd party to make that point. However right now the race is close enough that any vote NOT for Romney is a vote for Obama.
I'm not saying I think Romney is great. Not by a long shot. But Iwould rather him the our current administration any day.
