Im new to this forum,found it about 2 weeks ago. In 2009 the law changed allowing some people with "criminal" records to be able to get their CHL. Well 2009 was also my 10yr "felony anniversary"
I was never convicted only charged,and received deferred adjudication.Called DPS and told me I was clear to apply. Ive never been interested in a CHL until a few weeks ago a stranger knocked on my door and tried to force his way in my home. Luckily my outside door was locked,but he tried pulling it off the hinges. I know you dont need a permit to have one at home,but had no gun at the time.Pulled my cell phone out of my pocket and the guy ran out of the neighborhood. Since then,Ive purchased a Ruger LC9,Ruger LCP and WHEN my plastic comes in, Im going on a shopping spree at Academy......Im not new to guns, had them,packed them as a youngster, but now in my early 30's with a wife and kids, my mentality has changed..... Took my class 8/11,online app. finger prints and mailed documents on 8/15. Austin received on 8/17..THIS HAS BEEN THE SLOWEST WEEK! Next week will be EVEN SLOWER since Im going on DPS website to see if anything has been updated. Pray for me!
