Question about ID Placement

Your C answer is correct. In class I teach all students to carry DL/CHL/POI all in the same place & away from your gun.

I carry mine in a small bi-fold Id holder that I made. Dog Tag fashion on a lanyard around my neck.

If I am lit up I am able to have it out before an officer even approaches my window give no evidence of reaching for anything. If he is watching my hands are always visible.

My Instructor ad on my back windshield is a pretty good hint though.

Sorry you feel that way. This is all brand new to me and I am trying to take it seriously and give the decision to carry the respect and forethought it deserves.
I guess the question arose when I tried to put myself in a LEO's shoes and thought about how I'd feel if someone reached near his weapon to give me their ID and CHL.

I hope you'd at least agree that it's better to over think these things than to under think them.

Wallet and phone sit on the center console for easy access.


Insurance card is in the same spot in my console, and has been in every single truck I have ever owned.


Always good to think there things through, but to be honest I am not sure I get pulled over enough to make it an issue.

I would have kept my wallet in my back left pocket, but my extra mags are on the left and I don't want to accidentally expose them when reaching to pay for something. My favorite and most comfortable method of carry is OWB with a tucked t-shirt and an untucked unbuttoned cover shirt. Gun at about 3:30-4:00 and double spare mag carrier at about 8:30-9:00.

I like cover shirts with breast pockets. I'll carry my wallet in the left pocket and my phone in the right pocket if the is one. Some of my older shirts don't have two breast pockets. They'll wear out eventually and be replaced with shirts that have two pockets. I do have a couple of cover shirts that have hidden pockets behind the obvious breast pockets. These are really nice and are a medium weight rip-stop with short sleeves. Most of the rest are long sleeve denim that I roll up the sleeves on.

Keeping the wallet in the breast pocket also makes it easier to access when going through drive through fast food places.

I carry wallet and firearm on the right side and I am right handed. Insurance is on the visor

In the event I get pulled over I will either pluck out my wallet before I pull off the road or I will wait for the officier to arrive at my window and ask him how he would like me to proceed.

Either way I will follow the hands at 10 & 2, dome on, car off, keys on dash, window down (weather dependant).

I've only been pulled over once and I could get it out of my pocket and have it ready for the officier with out a lot of fidgeting or flailing.

I carry my wallet in my front pocket because I believe it's better for your back. At least that's what a chiropractor told me. I have my DL and CHL out of my wallet before the LEO reaches my car.

My wallet stays in my cargo pocket, so if I ever do get stopped I'm able to get it out without
much wiggling and squirming before the officer approaches my vehicle.
