Alliance air show - again.
Last year we discussed the air show and chl and after I went there I saw that it was not posted.
As noted before, the air field is owned by the city of Denton and therefore cannot be posted but look on the show's website:
http://www.allianceairshow.com/NeedToKn ... tions.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Someone should really challenge them.

That is a non-compliant sign on my computer...the letters are not at least an inch high...
On a serious note, I would like to attend that show sometime in the near future...

Re: Alliance air show - again.
I'm thinking it's owned by Ft. Worth, as I recall the City of Ft. Worth "annexing" the land for the airport, the speedway, etc., back when I lived in Keller.Zoti wrote:Last year we discussed the air show and chl and after I went there I saw that it was not posted.

According to http://www.alliancetexas.com/OverviewMa ... rport.aspx:
"Owned by the City of Fort Worth and managed by privately-held Alliance Air Services, Fort Worth Alliance Airport provides state-of-the-art infrastructure and an award-winning FAA Air Traffic Control Tower."
Here is the "contact us" form for the airshow:

Hope this helps.

Re: Alliance air show - again.
I'd like to see their reply. I bet they'll try to reference the "secured area" of airports mentioned in the list of prohibited places.Zoti wrote:

....or call it a "school" since there will be school-age kids there.
That's what the FT Worth Zoo does.

Re: Alliance air show - again.
It would be nice to see a comment/note by Mr. Cotton to these folks.

Re: Alliance air show - again.
If it's government property, doesn't that make the notice ineffective, even if the signs are 50 feet tall?Rex B wrote:They will have compliant signs at the entrances.

Re: Alliance air show - again.
If it weren't for the air show, wouldn't the area where people are being allowed into normally be considered a secure area?

Re: Alliance air show - again.
EVEN IF the city were allowed to post the location, the letters on my screen are not only not an inch high, but they are ALSO posted at my house on my computer, where they have no right to post any kind of sign. I live in Grapevine, for cryin' out loud. Therefore, I have not received effective notice.strider67 wrote:That is a non-compliant sign on my computer...the letters are not at least an inch high...

I think you are on to something however, if it a secured area then you should also not be able to bring in nail clippers and liquids.C-dub wrote:If it weren't for the air show, wouldn't the area where people are being allowed into normally be considered a secure area?
Re: Alliance air show - again.
The State of Texas defines the "secured area of an airport" as:Zoti wrote:

The Texas law seems to only apply to the terminal building and not to the flight line. Alliance could argue that the area hosting the airshow is normally in the Air Operations Area (AOA) and thus federal law comes into play. Of course if this is a federal issue then the 30.06 signs have no bearing. It would be very entertaining to hear Alliance's reasoning on this.PC 46.03 wrote:“Secured area” means an area of an airport terminal building to
