Alliance air show - again.

Re: Alliance air show - again.
And that was kinda my point. This area would normally be considered a secure area and they might post the entrance and perform searches. If they do this, even if the searches aren't as invasive as they would if one was flying it would still be a search. And I think just being wanded would be sufficient to meet the requirements of having being searched.
All joking aside, I'm sure you good folks are aware that a properly worded 30.06 notification only needs to meet the size requirement if posted as a sign on the building or gate or fence. It does not need to meet that size requirement if it is handed to you on a piece of paper, like on the back of a receipt or a flyer of some sort. And however unlikely, I'm not sure that viewing that notice from their website wouldn't be considered sufficient notice. The tough part would be that some authority would have to have access to your computer to prove that you had viewed it.
BTW, as much as I would not like to be disarmed, I don't think I would carry at this event.

Yes, the signs are ineffective. Last time I went they also had numerous big signs, white with big black letters, with correct 30.06 notice.strider67 wrote:I don't know the answer to that but am certainly interested...bizarrenormality wrote:If it's government property, doesn't that make the notice ineffective, even if the signs are 50 feet tall?Rex B wrote:They will have compliant signs at the entrances.
Somehave been known to carry past them in recent years
Enough to give one pause as you pass them while carrying.
But no metal detectors nor searches

I spent 10 years working for a city. I am more surprised when they don't screw something up and they tend to think the law doesn't apply to them. I have seen many laws blatantly broken.
Btw, Alliance is owned by Ft Worth. IANAL but secured area or not, 30.06 does not apply since it is owned by the city. This is simply a case of either ignorance or disregarding the law and people's rights.

I suspect they know it's unenforceable, but they figure enough CHLs will chicken out, and the non-CHLs will get that warm fuzzy feeling knowing there cannot POSSIBLY be any citizens running around carrying guns.

Re: Alliance air show - again.
The air show has a facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/AllianceAirShow), just posted the following there as a heads-up for them.
Folks, just wanted to give you a heads-up regarding your Entry Restrictions, "No firearms (including CHL - please see below)."
30.06 is non-applicable to property owned by a city, see section (e) of 30.06. (e) It is an exception to the application of this section that the property on which the license holder carries a handgun is owned or leased by a governmental entity and is not a premises or other place on which the license holder is prohibited from carrying the handgun under Section 46.03 or 46.035. Never mind. We should all blast them.
I sent them an email asking what law they are using to post. While I was there, I also emailed the Plano ISD asking about the 30.06 in the parking lots.

I have a perfect vantage point from the park < 100 yards from my house. . . and, of course, I get plenty of chances to see the planes as they buzz my house during practice for a week leading up to the show.

The area past the fence onto the ramp and flight line are under the authority of the Federal Aviation Administration. Akin to the USPS, not being bound by TX law. I wouldn't carry past the fence. Just sayin'.

All of Love Field and DFW are owned by Dallas or a group of cities. Most of our large airports are city owned. How many of you folks saying that 30.06 doesn't matter because it is property owned by the city want to try and see how far into the secure area you can get with your gun? This airshow is too much of a gray area for me. I would not risk it. I don't have the money to fight it and don't want to risk losing big time if I'm wrong.
They don't need to post 30.06 signs, but they are as a reminder. Maybe they are unenforceable. IDK
Are there any other statutorily off limits places that are okay when there is a certain type of event going on?

Re: Alliance air show - again.
Just because their is a fence at an airport doesn't mean the area on the other side is automatically a "secure area". You would need to talk to Alliance an find out exactly what portions of the airport have been designated as AOAs or SIDAs. Federal laws apply in these areas and weapons are not allowed. The 30.06 signs are not valid as the state of Texas says the only "secured area" is in the terminal building. They should be posting signs that cite federal law.C-dub wrote:Exactly!wheelgun1958 wrote:The area past the fence onto the ramp and flight line are under the authority of the Federal Aviation Administration.
